2019 dash

Recommended Posts

After looking at these 2019’s, I love the design since first laying eyes on it, but I’m not really digging the dash. Maybe it’ll grow on me, but the instrumentation design on the current K models just seems nicer to me .

Anyone else agree?

The T1's seem to have taken a step back.

I agree. Not as flashy or nice as the K2's

Again, another shame, another visual downgrade adding to the list....   as the prices have increased.

Many things on the T1's just look Cheaper. Including the plastic hood leaver release.

I think the top of the dash itself is also plastic vs the K2's leatherette on some trim levels?

yea they dropped the ball on the interior big time.

Dropping the ball is fine as long as the vehicle price drops as well but this is NOT the case.

Many LT's are exceeding 50k

I suspect much of this pricing increase has to do with the new Tariff's

Every truck I've spotted so far has convenience package after convenience package added to them.  Those grow the price really fast.

I just don't understand why people care about the hood latch.  I haven't seen it in person (only interior, hood was closed) but who cares.  Seems like people are just repeating what they heard somewhere else.

There are things I like more about the K2 interior but overall those is a step up.

Yes, overall the T1 is a step up especially in Design.

I think the point I am trying to make and others may agree, is that if you are going to increase the price of a vehicle, at least have something to show for it.

Otherwise, how can we feel like we are getting more for less?

As a GM owner, I want to be proud of the brand I have supported for a lifetime.

I want to see GM topple the F-150 and keep RAM at bay.

Have you seen the Bachman Chevrolet salesman video? The plastic hood release flexed when he pushed it over...with no tension on it. Cheesy place to try to save weight or money. Just like the plastic accelerator pedal mounts that flex and screw with acceleration response - hence everybody having to jam wood paint sticks in them.

My thoughts exactly.  And my point about the lever being plastic isn't just about the lever made of plastic.

If GM skimped on this 1 part out of thousands on the new design, what else did they skimp on that we may not know about leading to problems down the road due to cost savings?

At least they did away with the Ticking Time Bomb Vacuum Pump on the K2's

I think people are more upset at the cost savings than the design.... If the design works its fine... But the engineering better hold up. I guarantee they cut corners in areas nobody is looking at yet. Id be more worried about other things....

Other than the outer physical body visual changes, there were no real improvements made to the engines, transmissions and

especially NOT in the interior. I would call this cutting corners.

Dynamic Skip Technology and the 400 plus pounds of weight savings only added up to a Mere 1mpg more.

One would think or hope we should have at least seen maybe 2-3mpg more for all the engineering and parts.

I I had to open the hood today on my 2019, I can say it felt cheap. The hood opened easy enough but I could see the plastic being an issue down the road. Hopefully I’m wrong.

From what has been posted on here, GMT, the rear axle, front axle and suspension as well as the body frame and such all have been redesigned.  So it isn't just a looks thing.  Like the extra air foil on the back of the cab to allow air to flow better over the bed.  Side mirrors were moved more than likely for wind noise and aerodynamics.  Loosing 450lbs of weight is a good thing.  The hood latch I'm sure is a "special" grade plastic that flexes but will not brake over use.  Besides us, the average person never opens the hood anyway.  Just the service department of the local oil change place.

When they got rid of the under hood light, there was all kinds of flax being said how it was stupid and such.  Same with glove box light.  It will all pass and be forgotten.

Now the interior, I agree is less than fancy or even much of a change from the current truck. The instrument cluster could have been larger in my opinion.  Us old folks eyes are not what they use to be.  The entire layout really didn't change and to me if you are going to do a redesign you need to change it out, not just refresh it.

The prices will keep going up because society keeps buying.  Take a stand and refuse to  purchase things will change but it isn't going to happen.  Kind of like cell phones.  People don't care and will pay $1,000 for a phone because they must have it.  Really?  Values, it is all on what one's perception is on what they want and what they are willing to pay.  The manufactures know this and are betting they will sell.
