Sierra Dan
Anyone know the difference? I think GMC is calling their off road package X31 now, and not Z71 for 2019 to further distinguish between the two "brands".
srphoenix
Yeah I just saw this in an email from GMC talking about the new Sierra. Here is a link with mention of it on the Elevation press page as well and you can see the decal in the picture there: https://www.gmc.com/gmc-life/trucks/introducing-the-2019-gmc-sierra-elevation-edition Kind of surprised as Z71 is such a known name now. The AT4 sure looks good in the email pics they sent.
Sierra Dan
So GMC has the AT4 and X31.... Chevy has the Trail Boss and Z71....
SkiDooNick700
Wow, I like the looks for the X31. Can you get a 6.2 in it?
shift_grind
It's a sle level truck, so no 6.2. They say double cab only but we have seen it in crew cab so the jury is out on that.
newdude
X31 = Z71. Quote X31 Off-Road Package, includes Off-Road suspension, (JHD) Hill Descent Control, (NZZ) skid plates, (K47) high-capacity air filter and X31 hard badge Quote Z71 Off-Road Package, includes (Z71) Off-Road suspension, (JHD) Hill Descent Control, (NZZ) skid plates, (K47) high-capacity air filter and Z71 hard badge AT4 = TRAIL BOSS. Both AT4 and TB use RPO Z7X: Quote Suspension Package, Z71 Off-Road equipment with 2" lift. Includes (Z7X) Off-Road suspension with 2" lift and monotube shocks, (JHD) Hill Descent Control, (NZZ) skid plates, (K47) high-capacity air filter and Z71 hard badge TB is Custom and LT versions, AT4 is based on SLT, AT4 offers the 6.2, TB is 4.3 or 5.3 on Custom, 5.3 on LT TB. Adds some differentiation do GMC even more from Chevrolet. Same for GMC using X31 instead of Z71. X31 is available on all trims except Denali and AT4, Z71 can be had on WT to High Country, and you can add the Z71 appearance/protection package on Chevy.

Osirus
Is there any comparison of the actual differences between the "high-capacity air filter" in the Z71 vs. non-Z71 stock air filter?

On T1 yes. Different filter for K47 high capacity and w/o K47. Also, the air box does have a different p/n with or without K47. All the ducting is the same. 1999-2013 they used to offer two different filters, one with K47 one without K47. Same air box with or without K47. GM consolidated it to one single replacement filter in 2014 to just one p/n, the high capacity design 22845992. So 1999-2013, the GM only offers the high cap. filter. Whats funny...is on K2 trucks, they still option K47 high capacity, yet there is only one filter part#. 2014-2016 use the 1999-2013 filter, 22845992, 2017-2018 use a new p/n 23349854, but both filters are spec'd with or without K47. And they have the balls to include it in snow plow prep option as a "feature". Edited August 16, 2018 by newdude

I will be curious to see if the K47 High Capacity Air Filter will be interchangeable with the standard filter as in years prior, or if the air box is different now on the 19s. Looks like the only way to get the K47 option is with the X31 off-road or VYU Snow Plow Prep package. dennismc
The X31 package is $850 for the Sierra which includes Hill descent control, Skid Plates, High Capacity Air filter and X31 badging, wonder what the badging is? Also included 2 speed transfer, p265/65 15 All terrain tires and Dual exhaust!... Interesting
Sierra Dan
The badge is the same as Silverado Z71 in style and color, but reads X31

Silverado WT/Sierra Base: $945 Silverado LT/Sierra SLE: $1545 Silverado RST/Sierra Elevation: $1245 Silverado LTZ/Sierra SLT: $850 Silverado High Country: $350 Denali does not get Z71/X31 this time around. Z71 and X31 should be cheaper if you have a 6.2 (they already have dual exhaust and 2 speed transfer case) as 850 is a lot if you have the 6.2, but cheap if you have the 5.3.
