the 5.3’s are very easy to upgrade as well as the 6.2’s.

Great!  My topic should have been worded like this and then followed by my question!   What easy upgrades would you recommend?  Maybe your ideas will generate a responses from others who have made similar modifications to their 4.3.

I’ll ask you this, why not start fresh, why not buy a new truck, start fresh? 5.3’s and 6.2’s should be more than enough available power and in addition have an enormous amount of upgrades available. Right now is the time. Only downfall is that 6.2 requires premium. I’d never ever ever ever recommend anyone upgrade a V6.

I asked the GM of a large off road company: What would you do to upgrade a 4.3 V6, he started with “I’d never own a 4.3 V6 if I thought I was going to upgrade it”

First off, the majority of people that jump into them either can’t afford a V8 or purchase them as errand/delivery vehicles so if you attempt to upgrade in anyway changing engine components you may just cause serious damage regretting ever doing it. I don’t have an answer for you cause it freaks me me out just thinking of WHY?

Good luck and God Bless

Donstar, here’s a video you may be interested in. If it were me, I’d trade it in and get myself a V8. Good luck emoji256.png

Will this work on my 6.2?  How much mpg and hp increase should I expect?  Lol.   That video cracked me up!

I actually bought one of those throttle blades for my 2000 zr2 blazer in high school that had a 4.3.  I never installed it though after reading that little thing on the throttle blade was put there on purpose by gm to equalize the air flow to the cylinders.  I thought I had that rig tuned right in good.   Had an intake and  true dual exhaust.     A good man on a bicycle probably would have beat it to 30.

Lol, I don’t care for V6’s. Although, at 17 years old I was working from 6am-1am building my business,my first car coming out of Highschool was a V6, twin turbo silver/grey Buick TType. Had lots of issues with it. My two FJ80 were inline 6’s no issues, a couple V6 4Runners great too. Only 6’s I’ve had. Oh, I did have a 1988 Slant Nose 3.3liter twin turbo but that was a 4bangger, I had a lot of fun with it, scared everyone riding in it, lol! Turned Ninja 1000’s into tricycles. I’m sticking with my 6.2’s [emoji6]

It’s quite obvious you are in need. Stop with the whining, now is the time, go emoji125.png to your nearest dealership, pick up a V8 and then you’ll have no more need to be comparing your V6 to a V8 only looking to find some sort of upgrade that will help your little V6 perform better than a V8. If then you’re still finding something else to complain about at least the 5.3’s are very easy to upgrade as well as the 6.2’s.

I'd suggest that you read the post from Donstar three times in a row without blinking.

It may help you to understand the question.

I don’t engage TXGREEK any more. You don’t agree with him you’re a troll, says he. Some of his post are humorous though and he knows everything according to him.

Hmmmmm, and yet here you are and you’ve proven my point. You just can’t contain yourself can you. They let you and a couple of your buddies out of the looney home for good behavior?

Donstar,

I think overall the only option to gain some power is to boost it. With the high compression and fuel systems in these Gen V engines you wouldn't be able to use a lot of boost like the Fords do. It would probably be impractical financially and shorten the reliability. I have not done this to any of these engines, but I did put a centrifugal super charger on a mid 90's 350.

Made good power but the upkeep was a pain.

Just my opinion, but your thread looking at the 2018's with the NHT package is probably the best way to go.

One old guy to another.
