Crew cab vs double cab

What size bed are we talking here? I have the dbl cab, but with an 8' bed. CC will make this truck a bus! Also a 2500 HD as well so that the OP may want a 1500 and the newer trucks may not have the longer bed in a 1500?

Like most have said..CC if you have kids and child seats.

All about lifestyle but the double was made for me. Kids / wife rarely ride with me and we have an suv for that. The extra bed is perfect for home projects. With the tailgate down, chain link top rails etc sticks out just about 1-2 ft, not bad. Only reason I even have double cab is for hauling random stuff that I don't want to get wet. My back seats are usually folded up but can be down for the very rare time kids are with me. I gotta say I much prefer how the crew looks though.

When you say you can haul more in the back, what size bed do you have?

The Dbl cabs on the 1500's only come with the 6.5 foot bed. You can get a CC 1500 with either the 5.5 or 6.5 foot bed. CC are assembled in Mexico and doubles are assembled in Indianna if that matters

Thanks for clarifying, that is what I thought also!
(I didn't think that they had an 8' bed option in the 1500dbl/cab)
Which is why I was confused that a few people keep saying that "they can haul more"......
They can only haul more IF they are comparing a person with the cc that
Bought the shorter box version...... imo, Very misleading on their part by making that statement.

The 2500/3500 can be had in a double cab and 8' bed. The 2500/3500 in a double cab 6.5' bed is the same size as the 1500 double cab 6.5' if I'm not mistaken.

I think it comes from the fact that DC comes with the 6.5 standard and the CC comes with 5.5 standard. I know while I was shopping, none of the dealers within an hours drive had a CC spec'd with a 6.5 nor have I actually seen one on the road. Yes it's an option but not really common and depending on your dealers you may have to order one to get one that way.

Edit: Loco beat me to it.

Gotcha, thanks!
I thought since gm calls the 6.5 box "the standard" that is how they would actually come, unless someone chose to order the short box 5.5.... And figured that alot of dealers just ordered it that way, thinking that the standard would be to Long ( big) for most people to drive..... Didn't realize that you had to opt for the longer bed to get it.
(Click on my picture and you can see one with with the standard 6.5 box)
I love it! Would not want any shorter of a bed for me.
At my dealers lot there is usually a little of both versions, but definitely more with the short.
Thanks again.

The 6.5' box was called a short box prior to being labeled a standard box. The introduction of crewcabs in the 1/2 ton lineup brought on the 5'8" short(er)  box.   Regular cabs with 8' boxes were the most popular choice when us baby boomers were buying our first vehicles!    I have owned most configurations and my 1/2 ton with the crewcab and 6.5' box is the most practical, functional and good looking configuration, imo.  Inconveniences faced by the 10" of extra length over my previous cc short bed Sierra are non-existent and the extra load space is very noticeable.

Yep, owned many previous versions also, including 8' boxes on 3/4 ton extended cabs.

I'm sure I'd be a minority, but I probably would have bought my current cc with an 8' bed IF it was an option, I like the extra bed space!
I seriously looked at the 3/4 tons, but don't really need to have that heavy of a truck any more most of the time.
If I have something bigger to haul now, I just hook up to my trailer.
