Crew cab vs double cab

I've often thought a double cab with a short box would be an interesting option for GM to offer to urban customers.

Chevy did offer a extended cab short bed (5.7 not the standard 6.5) from I think 05 to 08ish both body styles. 134” wheelbase. Google images Chevy extended cab super short

This is is the only pic I’ve ever found of one with the vortec MAX emblem never have figured out if they really offered these with the 6.0 or if this guy just stuck it on there?

I'm not positive, better pretty sure the max package back then came with the older version 6.2 similar to what they still currently offer, except both motors are redesigned now.

Thanks.  I probably knew that at the time but since forgotten.  This is a 19" shorter wheelbase than my current CC Std. box and  certainly would be less truck to park!

The good Lord knows I'm no Dave Ramsey, but please don't do this.

+1    Financing a depreciating asset over 8 years is a really bad idea.    If you can't pay it off within 3-5 years (the warranty period) then you can't afford it.   It's that simple, and yet so many people get it wrong.

People also turn a blind eye to the hidden cost of this "free money".    By accepting the current zero percent offer you may lose ~$1200 in cash rebates.

I'm going to sum up this entire thread very easily...no one, with kids in a car seat, has ever purchased a crew cab and said, man I wish I would have got a double cab...

Probably not, but I bet they have said, "man I wish I would have got a Suburban....".

I cant argue with that...but that is an entirely different conversation. :)  I have a crew cab and want to get the wife a 'Burb...so what does that mean?  haha!

I just picked up a Double Cab Sierra last month, and I have 3 year old twin boys in front facing seats. I'm 6'1" average build.

I think I'm in the sweet spot for a DC...it wouldn't have worked 2 years ago, but it works now, and I think it should work for us the next 5-6 years.

Cost was the deciding factor for me. My Jeep was on it's way out, we just bought a house, and this truck was in great shape. I could have spent the same and bought an older crew with more miles. I know my family will outgrow a DC V6 down the road, but I'll be due for a new truck by then anyway.

At the end of the day, you gotta buy the truck that works for you and your budget.

Lots of disposable income? :)

Nice ride btw, black trucks are awesome but they're so hard to keep clean.

That's the combination my son has in his Houston area driveway.  I've walked around his subdivision and you would almost think this combination was a requirement to live there.  When I had three young children, I went from a '85 F150 SuperCab to an '86 Suburban (GMC variant).  I've been a GM fan since then because of the ride and quality of this SUV.  I sometimes call my current Sierra 1500 with matching canopy "my poor man's Suburban".

not really man...just have to get a vehicle that will last...so i will (hopefully) be driving this thing for 10 years... and my wife owns a business...so the only way we can afford a decent Burb is through her business...which would be the main use for it anyway...

Black trucks suck!  haha!  great only for the day its washed! hahaha!  but thank you...i try to keep it nice...but Mother Nature has other plans for me...

well...i have a camper shell...so i know what you mean! ha!  as i mentioned above, it it weren't for my wife's business...we would probably get another 4 Runner when she needs a new vehicle, but its just too small to haul all her stuff around...

They did in the last generation, my friend had found a used 5.3L double cab with the crew cab 5'6" box on it from factory. Had a slightly shorter wheelbase like a Yukon but still had 1500 rear suspension. Was the first time I had heard of the combo and he drove 14 hours to buy it. It was a really sharp looking truck until it was stolen and wrapped around a tree not even a block from his home about 8 month later, as soon as he bought a lift and tires and did a bunch of paintwork. Rare truck, I haven't seen another one like it in Canada.
