Cell phones above iPhone 13 and Samsung s21 will not work, GM has not updated to be compatible.

My phone is a S22 ultra and has worked just fine on both my 2014 that I did the 2.5 upgrade on and the 2018 that was already equipped. I think you might want to try again.

Hi all, couldn't find this answer. I currently have a 2015 Silverado with the 2.0 HMI, wanting to do the upgrade to the 2.5. I currently have the io6 with Navigation, I know if I do the upgrade with the io5 I lose the factory navigation. I'm not so much concerned with that because I only use Waze/Google Maps anyways. But, will I lose some of the OnStar functionality (like locating where I parked or the tracking functionality if stolen) if I go with the io5 instead of the io6?

Thanks!

Google up White Audio and Media Services.  They have all the bits and pieces to go from 2.0 to 2.5 and keeping IO6.

Or...read this 88 page thread you posted in which mentions White Audio A WHOLE LOT OF TIMES.

The reality is that many times when these are stolen, they swap out the ECM under the hood with another one. The ECM is tied into OnStar and preprogrammed with your VIN and when swapped out with a different one, OnStar no longer able to "see" your vehicle. It takes all of about 5 mins from when they start the stealing process until they are driving away in your vehicle. GM is fully aware of this shortcoming as well as other issues but turns a blind eye to it...

Thanks. Yes, I'm aware of White Audio and Media, that's where I am ordering the upgrade. Couldn't find any mention of the impact to OnStar functionality on his site or on the 88 pages of this thread though so that's why I asked the question.

Seems however that the impact to OnStar lies elsewhere. Thanks for the insight.

Have a 2015 Sierra 1500 Denali but when the radio boots up it doesn’t say Denali it just say gmc and it has the projection app. If I don’t have phone plugged in and click it it recognizes no phone, but if I plug my iPhone in and click the projection app it just beeps. It won’t open to anything just beeps when clicked. So I’m thinking the previous owner put a newer radio in giving the option for car play. I can go in settings and car play and android auto settings are there, so why does it just beep and not enter car play?

Can someone put a link to a parts list needed to upgrade to this unit, trying to upgrade to CarPlay.  I have the 2015 Tahoe with Bose speakers and screen that lifts up just as in the video.
thanks !!

Google White Audio and Media.  They have the items you need to upgrade HMI.
