Replacing 2.0 HMI module with 2.5 HMI module to add CarPlay/Android Auto to 2014-2015 Silverado

Recommended Posts

Received my upgrade from Magpie today, it was a success

This video is AWESOME Frank.

Thanks so much for filming your install.

For any on those wondering this upgrade can be done on most 2014-2015 GM vehicles. It is not limited to just trucks.

Thanks again for filming.

One thing I just realized that I dont have anymore is the ability to rewind live radio. Was there an internal hard drive on the older units that isnt there on the new hmi and radios?

I noticed the same with my updated stuff....honestly it was years before I even knew I had it with my stock harware LOL.  My guess is GM did away with it due to "lack of interest"?

Yeah, who knows. I used it alot. If I wanted to repeat a song or missed something that happened on a game.... just rewind it a little and move on.

I took out my 4 inch screen with my link and ordered a 8 inch screen but for some reason the radio lights up and it will play music but the screen is black? Am I missing something? Could it be the hmi needing to be programmed?

Ok so i am hoping that someone on here can help me. I purchased a 2015 suburban LTZ in march and for the first 3 weeks Carplay would pop up on my phone when plugged in with the usb cable and and i would get the little blue bar across the top of my phone and the stuff would show up on the display. Something popped up on my phone while i was on a call and Carplay disappeared. My phone and the usb cable when plugged into other chevy cars, carplay works just fine. I have taken it back to the dealership and they said my car never had carplay and previous owner upgraded it.  the manufacture date of my suburban is Feb 19 2015 I have pulled out the HMI unit and i have 2.0 hmi. Just looking for help as to how the hell to get it back.

did you just buy the screen itself and didn’t do nothing to the current hmi module in the truck?
