Replacing 2.0 HMI module with 2.5 HMI module to add CarPlay/Android Auto to 2014-2015 Silverado

Recommended Posts

Chris said you really should unhook the battery. A thought would be to unhook the battery for about 30 seconds or more. Then hook it back up and see if that makes a difference. My modules are due back to me on Tuesday so i hope mine all work perfectly.

Hey Chris got everything hooked up and working great other than the rear camera in motion. It’ll come up for about 5 seconds and the it’ll say “service rear vision”. Reverse works like it always has.

Correct you’ll need the harness from Pgamboa if you wish to utilize that feature. 10 second plug and play install :)

Chris, will this be the same for me when I get mine back from you? This was an early 15. Just wondering if I should contact @pgamboa now to get that harness ordered.

Can you install some type of antenna?  The only thing I did not do is unhook battery.  Like I said it is working fine with the exception of Google maps saying "searching for gps signal". It comes in and out

I had this same issue with my Samsung S7 when I added the Android Auto compatible radio... turns out the phone was shutting the GPS receiver off as a power saving measure - Make sure you phone is not in any kind of power saving mode (check settings- device maintenance -battery menu for power saving modes)

If you ordered the reverse camera access, you will need the adapter harness. PM to order one. I’ll need to know your truck Year.

So for the few that have done this already, ill get mine tomorrow from Chris, what do you have to do to use Nav in motion and the rear cam in motion?

Nav in Motion should work just fine but you’ll need the camera harness adapter for that to work.

I bought this 2016 Sierra last month, not realizing that it did not including Apple Carplay.  I was disappointed to know I bought one of the shorts.  Well, here comes @th3magpi3 to save the day.  He told me I only needed a new HMI 2.5 and I would need to update my radio.  I ordered the HMI 2.5 on ebay then sent my radio module along with the new HMI 2.5 to be re-programming.  In less than a day of receiving my parts, they were re-programmed and on their way to back me.  Installation was easy and now I have a fully functional 2016 Sierra.

So, today I got my stuff back from WAMS. So, I have my NAV in motion bypass module  This is a true plug and play adapter. All you have to  do is tap the rear defroster button twice and it will promt you to accept the offroad use agreement. Once you click accept, you would now be able to use all functions of Navigation while in motion.

PM me for details and a price. Check it out on MVI's website GM-Navigation.com for the list price and a video of it being used.
