And I was playing around with the cluster.  The 14s period don’t have the angle approach... so it’s always at 45 degrees. I was going to see what it takes to get it to work since it’s in the cluster.

Hmm. I guess since you did the whole hmi and radio swap too, you could get a newer year cluster? I just did the cluster. And its not in there at all.  Since yours is a 14, did your truck have lousy radio reception for regular fm and hd radio? If so, did the hmi/radio module help with it? I can rarely listen the regular radio and i rarely ever get hd to come on.

Oh, that sucks about your abs issue. How do you like the look and ride with the 20x12?

It’s hard to say on reception when I was stationed in Fort Worth I could pick up hd and regular channels just fine.  Now that I’m stationed in Washington state I have trouble even picking up satellite radio.  FM is a joke to unless you have zero trees around.  I stream almost everything now anywaye.

as for my wheels they ride exactly the same as my old setup and look way better.  I had the same issue before just not as bad only when making left hand turns.  I did switch from an MT tire to a hybrid as well so I’m wondering if that as anything to do with it.

Also of note the Map upgrade we are offering for the navigation units at a significantly reduced price over getting them from GM are now brand new fresh 2019 maps :)

Chris -

Do you mean the maps included with a module you program or is WAMS actually selling just the USB updates like gmnavdisc.com?

We can update the maps on the unit to the brand new 2019 maps which my guess is the same one GM is selling.

Also of note we have had some issues due to a host move of our website (while we develop a new upgraded site) that caused some issues with Email hosting and the order database. That said if you have an order number HIGHER than 1977 please email us a copy of your order email so we can manually add it back in so you get status notifications. Also if you have contacted us in the past 72 hours or so and NOT received a response its likely we did not get your email so please contact us again. I apologize for the inconvenience this is literally the first (and hopefully last!) time this has ever happened.

Hey all,

Just wanted to say that I have graciously returned to the forums and I am happy to continue to provide this service to anyone who is interested in it!

I will personally beat ANY quoted price for the programming. Our rate is $100 for a radio/HMI programming combo. I do not charge an additional $100 if your parts are mismatched.

If anyone is interested in learning more please reach out to me via PM.

Thank you to everyone who messaged me in my absence, I'm very excited to share some new developments I've been working on with everyone. Stay tuned <3

Thanks Chris White. Got my radio module and hmi back today. Installed and worked great. Google navigation is way better than any of the factory navigators. I would encourage anyone coming here to this forum to make this radio upgrade. I would not waste my money on factory navigation when Android auto works way better.

while I agree that google maps or waze are updated more regularly and give live updates.  The one caveat to remember is if you are in a rural area with no cell service, then the maps will not work, but factory GPS might have signal and still work.  I ran into this issue when I was driving through Colorado in the past.  I just did this upgrade in my Silverado and spent the extra money to have both options.  My thinking is that its a small extra cost to the project and its nice to have the backup.  Now if you don't travel or live in areas with sketchy cell service, then might not be worth the extra money.

In my opinion it all comes down to personal preference.

I upgraded my IO5 to an IO6 because why not. I've maybe used the stock NAV 5 times.

Google maps is just so much better in my opinion.

That being said, if your truck came with an IO6, a lot of guys want to keep their truck with the same options that it came with, so they'll stick with NAV. At the end of the day, it's really just personal preference.

The fact that it works in shotty cell service is another good point!

For what it's worth....with an Android phone I have downloaded Google "Offline Maps" which loads and saves a chosen section or area on the map and saves it to your phone. I would think that it would then work in the same way as factory navigation and then be using your phone's GPS. Here's a link to how it works.

For those making the point that NAV > Google Maps, keep one thing in mind - Google Maps has a feature called "Offline maps" in which you can download specific areas to your device so that a cell signal not be required.  And if your car NAV has a GPS signal, so will your phone at that point.  So the whole "signal" argument becomes moot.

I was not trying to start an argument, and I do not think anyone has said factory NAV was better than Google maps.  My point was that in my other vehicles with factory NAV, I have lost cell signal but factory NAV was still working.  Its been rare, but it has happened in Colorado and Kansas while traveling more rural areas.   Off the top of my head, I know of 4 locations where this has occurred to me.  Generally, I agree if one works, then both will.  I was merely throwing my 2 cents out there as that was mentioned to me when I was debating on whether or not to stick with IO5 or spend the extra $300 to go to IO6.  At that point, the cost was a moot point to me (which I know will not be the case for everyone), so I decided to get the IO6.

I agree Off line maps would solve the issue, but you would have to know ahead of time to download it.  That has not always been the case with me.  If I know, then I will do that.  My other issue was that this truck will be going to my son next year and I would rather have the piece of mind that he has both options available for maps if needed.  Once again, not trying to convince everyone to do IO6 over IO5, just throwing out my reasoning.

Also not sure if my old IO5 was going bad or what (just got this truck a few months ago and don't drive it often), but my wife would complain when I would talk to her over bluetooth because of extra noise.  Since doing the upgrade, no issues and she cannot tell which car I am driving based on what she is hearing on her end.

I do think this is a great upgrade either way!

I have a 2016 truck that was part of few months that got built without the 2.5 HMI, I bought one from th3magpi3 and had him program it to my VIN.  I plugged it in today and everything with apple carplay works flawlessly, just wanted to let anyone know who might be on the fence.  He was very responsive and quick to ship it out too!!!
