Making even more progress! HMI has been updated to the newest software, which means Wifi compatibility ! OTA updates are enabled, meaning you will receive all future software updates for the HMI over a valid network connection! Also, the ability to download apps from the shop

That's awesome!  I just ordered my 2.5 hmi on Ebay just now. Cant wait to get this installed.

For anyone following along I am once again waiting for parts. I was having issues with the radio module I had originally ordered. A new module is on order and should be installed and ready to go by the end of the week. Once I have full audio for everything I will make a post here, signalling we're good to go!

Again, thank you so much for your patience in this. I appreciate it!

Curious question, What module owns the different color combinations between Chevy and GMC? Is that programmable to whatever module you can get your hands on?

Color combos in what aspect? The colors on the screen?

For the most part, everything you see on the infotainment screen is handled by the HMI. From 2017-2018, GM scrapped the red color scheme and made everything chevy blue, regardless of if the truck was a sierra or silverado. That's why in the new screenshots the scheme is blue. They did this with backlighting and cluster colors as well.

GMC still had red lighting in 2016 and Carplay/AA was already out. So finding a 2016 GMC 2.5 HMI is needed to maintain the red GMC lighting.

Correct, if it bothers you that much. Personally I'd prefer to have the updated interface.

By red lighting do my mean on the clock and temp at the top of the screen or is there more to it? I'm guessing this doesn't mess with the dash lighting.

Yes, plus the general radio/phone/nav/weather layout will also be in the blue theme.

The HMI can be updated to an older build with red accents but you will have older software and the circle icons. It's your choice!

I forgot to ask this Monday, what are the odds that the bad module was an isolated issue and you wouldn't run into it with one that we provided?

That's what I'm trying to figure out! I have a strong feeling the module I have is defective, however I need a second one to test against to make sure everything is working out as it should.

Just trying to understand the situation. What exactly does the radio module do? Is it just a tuner? To make CarPlay/Android Auto work with our trucks do you have to program anything other than the new vin? ( regarding radio module only)

The Radio is responsible for all things MOST. It is the MOST Bus master. It is kind of like the middle man between every module who uses a form of media on board.

It also has hardware in it, like an XM receiver, AM/FM tuner and HD Radio module.

As for what the EXACT change that happens in the HW between a 2014 module and a 2016 module, I can only assume it's either a calibration set in newer modules to allow ACP and AA to work properly or a physical change in hardware. I don't have a concrete answer for you unfortunately.
