Vibration

Recommended Posts

Ok, I've read some posts from those who have had vibrations and most seem to be when going above 70. Mine occurs when I'm driving between 40 and 50 mph. I put 285s on the day after I got the truck so I don’t know if it had them before (I didn't notice). I also tightened the torsion bars on the truck but had it aligned afterward. Saturday I took the truck to Discount Tire to get the tires checked out and they were a little out of balance (only had 1100 miles on them). I had hoped that this would take care of the problem but it didn't. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be???

Thats what I would have thought too, and thats why I went back the Discount Tire and even went to a different location than where I bought the tires. I watched them rebalance each tire, and "Ridematch" them (they put them on a machine (computer) that was able to determine the best place for the tire on the wheel). They moved both tires that were on the right side - and I still got the dang vibe!

There have been alot of people complaining that their BFG's are not round...

When you put a tire that big on your truck, if it is not perfectly round, then you will feel a vibration whether it is perfectly balanced or not.

I had the same problems with my BFG A/T's as well. Got tired of it so I just got rid of them and put on a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers. No vibration period! Rides like a Caddy, best d**n tire I have ever owned!

I will never buy anything other than Nitto or Toyo for my truck! :smash:

Just my thoughts........Good luck!

I've had the same problem with my Z71 I had. I would suggest rotating the tires and see if it changes anything. After that get the alignment checked again. It should be checked after it is re-aligned.

I put Michelin 265's on my truck and had the same problem as you. Direct tire rebalanced several times to no avail.

Last week I had a blowout on the left rear and had to replace both tire and wheel.

Would you believe the vibration stopped?!!. The problem was not the wheel as it didn't vibrate with factory tires. How could I be so lucky as to blowout the bad tire?!!

OK, got my vibrations taken care of! Took it back to Discount Tire for the third time and they replaced the tires on the right side of my truck that were out of round. :D Truck rides smooth now at all speeds. Also got a Line-X bedliner (over the rail) sprayed on today and it looks really good. I'm planning on getting my old aluminum toolbox sprayed and some westin nerf bars sprayed as well. I still haven't decided on which ones I want....just under the doors or wheel to wheel. :P

It's a shame that BFG lets that many out-of-round tires hit the market. I know they are a good tire, and alot of people like them, but I think they would have a little better "Quality Control".
