Largest tire with stock 20 inch wheels

Recommended Posts

Much appreciated.  I love the wheels that I have.  I don't want to get rid of them.  I would rather spend money on control arms to fix the issue if I can.

Is your truck leveled?

Nice tire choice, looks good man.  Do a small leveling kit (1.5-2"), and grab a 1/4" wheel spacer (if needed) and you should be rub free.   My dad runs that tire size on factory snowflake 20s with a 2" leveling kit, and he doesn't rub on anything (control arms, sway bar, or wheel liner).  We will be doing 1.5" BORA spacers  on his to get a more aggressive stance since he likes the factory wheels.

I saw those 1/4" wheel spacers.  Wasn't sure if I wanted to put those on there or not.  I like to avoid spacers since I do tow my boat and have future plans of pulling my Jeep as well.

Totally get it, everyone wants bigger tires replacing those oem donut tires on their truck but you’ve got to do it RIGHT or else you’ll be damaging things and quadruple your cost. I’d go back to stock “if” you’re not going to level. Quality UCA’s will cost you a lot more than just a small level (Bilstein 5100 leveling shocks) and because you want to keep your wheels, possibly 1” spacers. I’m not crazy about spacers either, get different offset wheels, but you continue with just having larger tires with no suspension mods, hit a hard dip and you’re going to tear up a lot more than you’d like to.

Is a 2" lift with stock snowflake wheels okay to fit 285/60/20?

15-18’s all have new stamped steel UCA’s which either rub with larger tires or with leveling. Either 1” spacer or new offset wheels which either will give a better stance. 285’s will rub something but not the 275’s. My 18 GMC CrewCab Z71

Just remember this, your gas mileage will drop approximately 2 mpg’s just by adding larger heavier tires and if you have done a level which also possibly dropped additional 1/2 to full mpg or more so all in all you’ll loose approximately 3mpg with a level (much worse with lift kit) and larger tires and to some people that’s a lot of miles you’ll be losing just for a better stance. Some people have also mentioned somewhat of a rougher ride with just a level. I’ve got 2.25” billet aluminum upper and lower level up front, 1” added in rear, 285/60/20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers with a +1 offset Fuel wheel and I still had to zip tie the liner.

The Ridge Grapplers that I have are 34” x 11.50x 20 which are approximately 1/3” of an inch fuller than KO2’s which is why I’m getting a bit of rub on inner liner..

Let’s stick with calling your wheels 20” wheels and leave out the “snowflake” [emoji6]

My personal experience, NO! Once you level, you bring the UCA’s closer to the tires. Either spacers will be needed which I’m not a big fan or my recommendation is to sell your 20” wheels and buy 20x9 +1 offset. Or you could just drive around with just the level?

Sorry, Tapatalk issues, for some reason I cannot find the wheel and tire setup you were talking about, something about your dad has same wheel tire setup with ? Tire size and a 2” level.
