Largest tire with stock 20 inch wheels

Recommended Posts

I ran a 305/55r20 Nitto Ridge Grappler on my factory wheels with a 2"leveling kit, and they rubbed on the sway bar while turning.  If I could do it again, I would have ordered 285/60r20 or 295/55r20, so that it wouldn't have rubbed at all.  Anything bigger will probably rub if you do any type of articulation while turning, such as going up a steep driveway.

This would be my setup, 2.25” front billet aluminum, 1” rear added. 285/60/20 Ridge Grapplers. Had 275/60/20 KO2’s that didn’t rub at all then put on 285/60/20 KO2’s that barely rubbed, now switched out to the Ridge Grapplers and these rub on the outside edge of the tires only rubbing on backups, Ridge Grapplers are larger diameter, 34” X 11.50 X 20

Control arms on the 2017+ apparently get rubbed on

I don't think that is a year thing.  There are 3 types of control arms that come on these trucks.  Mine are stamped steel, and while my tires rub them at full lock it is so little that it took me a few months of checking them before I ever even saw a mark from it.  Don't sweat it so much, not a big issue unless you go crazy with tire size.

He’s correct about the UCA’s late 2015 the trucks went from aluminum to stamped steel. A neighbor has a 14 CrewCab Z71 they didn’t rub when he leveled it but my 18 did, bought new offset wheels and now it’s all good.

Yah my 2017 has the stamped steel control arms, which are exactly the same for late 15’ to 18’

No rubbing? I hear only KO2's in that size won't rub.

Honestly that's what I was banking on.  The only rubbing I've found so far is hard lock to the right it will rub on the inner fender.  Zip tie should work.  I did not put on a level yet either.

Slight rub with NO leveling kit? Interesting....
