You’re Absolutely correct, so many people on these forums will claim minor differences between LT and LTZ which is untrue. I’ve got a completely loaded out SLT with the 6.2 and have had countless morons tell me that their 5.3 is as powerful as the 6.2 or if they use E85 it’ll be same or faster, LMFAO! Last week a guy at a service shop said he’s got leather too but didn’t pay what I paid, ummm ok? Package upgrades are UPGRADES for a reason that includes much more than anyone cares to look into once you cross their price comfort zone. You’re right though, especially now with the 19, want the whiplash 6.2, well, you’re going to have to UPGRADE and NO, E85 IS NOT going to put you in the same category emoji23.png

I tend to research the hell out of everything before I buy! LOL! My original intention was to get an LTZ, but I couldn't pass up the deal on my loaded LT+. Big incentives on the LT's at the time, not so big incentives on the LTZ's.

It's relative on how the LT is equipped. They can get up there in price. My 2017 LT+ (Z71 midnight edition DC, All star, Bose, leather, 4x4, trailer package, io6 w/NAV, factory spray bed liner, rear slider, adj pedals, ect..) stickered at $51,180.. I paid $41,800

Then isn't that an LTZ?

No.. LT.. LTZ have different standards like led head/tail lights. The LT has HID headlights. There are some other ltz features also.

Eh I think someone owes you a letter "Z" on your tailgate hahaha.  They must've changed the packages but you couldn't get any of those features in an LT in 2014.  You had to go up to an LTZ.  It wouldn't surprise me that GM changes their packages around though to try to get  people to pay up to other trim levels just to get one basic feature they really wanted.

"Oh you wanted a backup camera?  Well then that $38,000 LT now needs the super duper awesome package for $7,000 more but you get all these other features that you didn't even care or ask about."

When I bought LTZ was the only way to get power folding mirrors and LED. Remote start too I think.

Yeah that's been my experience, at least with the power folding mirrors and LED.  Typically though the remote start is available at lower trim levels with either the addition of the convenience package or the all star edition package.  My truck is 2014 LT All Star Edition and has remote start, fog lights, and heated mirrors, but not power folding mirrors.  They are power adjustable though.  But I don't have an auto dimming rear-view mirror which was only available with the LTZ trim level.

I have 3 packages. The All star package , Midnight package and LT plus packages. Bose, leather, 5.3, TBC, Cargo light and built in NAV were individual options. The way they package stuff can be confusing/complicated.

You can get almost to the LTZ level by piling stuff onto a LT, but not quite. I started out building on a LT with all I wanted (I always order to get things just so) and by the time I got there I wasn't too far away, $-wise, from just upgrading to LTZ.

Yup.. I saw LTZ's around the same sticker price range, but the incentives I got were only available on the LT's at the time, so an LTZ would have been thousands more out the door. LT's on the lot with as many options as mine were far and few between. Incentives applied to LT's in dealer stock.

There are quite a few members who have posted 1/4 mile times on this website that best the 6.2 with the simple addition of E-85. Its easy to do when you consider a 40 HP deficit. Gearing, weight of the truck and the fact you can get a 5.3 in a single cab all comes into play. Saying in any case a 5.3 can’t perform as well as a 6.2 is LMFAO. Reminds of my younger days when people who had 454s would laugh at my 350 Nova until they were handing me a C note.

You could do just as well, if not even better, on a LTZ with a little moxie. Dealers tend to back off on their discounts as mfr. incentives increase. But they still have the room, you just need a pry bar.

I don't recall what the incentives were on LT at the time - once I focused on LTZ. I think the nearly $5,200 in mfr. incentives I got on the LTZ had to be hard to beat. Combined with over 10% dealer discount I can assure you that I did not pay "thousands more" for my LTZ.

I'm not saying YOU 'spent thousands' more. I'm talking about my circumstance which at the time was 17% off, equaling about $8600 off MSRP to start before I even started wheeling and dealing, plus I got excellent trade value for my 2008 Tacoma with 185K miles on it that I drove for 10 years. The deal wasn't easy. I got up out of my chair and headed towards the door at least twice during negotiations if I remember correctly! LOL!

In the end, very happy with the deal and very happy with my LT.

I need to get better at wheeling and dealing.  Not only do I suck at this, I think I ended up paying for a drop in bedliner that I thought I was getting free.  They definitely took advantage of an amateur at the time haha

My experience has been the deals are on the packages like the Texas Edition. When I bought my last truck l was looking at left over Denalis, my dealer had 13 on 12/31/13 and we’re dealing. I ended up with a 14 Texas Edition. I saved 15K on the best deal they would give me on the Denali. I can count on one hand the equipment different between the two. The factory incentives make the difference.

You’ve GOT TO STOP THIS KARNUT! Constantly trolling around having something to prove with your little 5.3, Geez [emoji6] LMFAO! We’re not back in the days of your prime motor years. Back in the days, I never had anything to prove but always seemed to be that someone was always trying to prove something of themselves to me. If I was to say that my Buick T Type (back in the days) or my slant nose Porsche (back in the days) was faster who gives a [emoji90], really. You need to join an old muscle car forum or start your own “Back in The Days” or better yet, a “Flex Fuel” forum. Btw, I did use E85 in my 14 flex fuel and it made no difference other than horrible gas mileage and sometimes ran so bad that when I punched it my butt raised off the seat. That’s when I promised myself never again a 5.3. Not knocking the 5.3 just not for someone that expects much more from a truck.
