Dealership sold me hail damaged truck

This isn't on the dealer or Chevy but you. If the dents were there before (seems unlikely 6 months later) you failed to inspect before buying, take responsibility for your own issues instead of trying to find someone else to blame and joining just to create a complaint thread. It is very possible their lower level guys that touch and deal with the truck missed it as well if it in fact had dents when purchased just as you did. You can't see them, they are tiny and you didn't buy a brand new truck. If you had spent $40k then you would have had a dent free truck but you only spent $38k so you just didn't spend enough.

What were you trying to accomplish with this thread? A smear campaign on the dealer online? If it bothers you fix it and move on as a lesson learned, I would personally care less as even at 6'5 I wouldn't be able to see them and it is a truck so it will get some character overtime...

Doubt the dealer noticed any hail dents on the roof. They don't go over trade ins that thoroughly, and roof dents aren't very noticeable. I've never bothered to get them fixed, just pocketed the insurance check instead.

It's definitely not GM's fault.  It didn't come off the assembly line with hail damage.  As others have said, take it up with your dealer.  When I bought my truck, the day I took it home I noticed a dent on the driver's side door.  I called my salesman and he said basically said no problem just bring it back and they would fix it free of charge.  I probably could've negotiated a discount or something but it was a paintless dent repair and they got it out...I was happy with the service considering nobody noticed it before all of the paperwork was signed and the deal was done.

Well to much time has passed to come back on the dealer.  more than 6-months, how can they been expected to believe it was there when you bought it.  Should be po'd at yourself for not catching it, if in indeed it was there when you bought it.  Has there been an severe storms recently in your area? If so, call your insurance agent and tell him about the hail damage.   If the roof has hail damage, the hood should as well.

Bought a 2017 Chervrolet Silverado crew cab 4wd Lt from Gateway Chevrolet in Avondale, Arizona. It only had 2800 miles when I bought it, certified preowned. This was back in November 2017, few months ago I realized the truck had about a dozen dime sized dents throughout the roof, very slight dents but definitely there. It infuriates me how they didn't disclose this to me, I bought the truck for an unreasonably expensive price considering it had dents on the roof. It angers me because The truck cost me 38,000 dollars and they didn't disclose dents on the roof, body damage!!! it will cost me nearly a thousand dollars to repair. I called Chevrolet and of course there is nothing they will do about it. I called the dealership and I haven't even been able to get through to a person in charge, they keep on giving me the run around. I am so pissed, I can't believe Chevrolet did this to me, I feel lied to I decided to buy Chevrolet because of the reputation it has but am now wishing I would have bought a ford instead.

Dude, seriously? Approx 7 months later and now these accusations, cheeessy, real cheeeesy! I’d change this to
“I’ve got dents on my somewhat new truck and I don’t know how they got there?”

If it took you six months to notice, it must not be that big of a deal. No wash or wax in six months? I'd pour some hot water up there pull out the dents.

You can't file an insurance claim because you "know" that the damage happened prior to it being insured. If you do, you're no better than a common thief.

Your last option is to attempt to sue in small claims court. I don't know Arizona law but you'll have to hope that you can either get someone at the dealer to testify that they knew the damage was there and that they didn't disclose it to you purposefully and/or during the discovery phase find documentation. First thing you can do right now is request all dealer repair records for the life of the truck. They may provide those records to you. Just go to the service department and ask. If you find body work, you might be able to argue that they didn't finish the job. No harm in trying. In the meantime, pull down this post and quit making yourself look like a vindictive ass.

Finally, it's possible that you could find out who insured your truck prior to it being traded in. Maybe they have records of having paid a body shop. It's a long shot and I'm not sure how you'd even start. Maybe with title history and call the previous owner?

To me, this all seems like a lot of work and I'd probably spend the time having fun with mods instead.

I wouldn’t call him a thief for reporting it to his insurance company being he really doesn’t know where and when it happened. Besides, insurance companies love to rate hike, cause they’re greedy thieves too

A dozen "very slight" dents on the roof.  Apparently, so slight no one noticed it for months.

"Unreasonably expensive price".  That I can agree with.  $38,000 for a used LT.

Sounds like you didn't inspect the vehicle before buying it, and just wondering why it took you so many months to even notice the dings?  Do you not wash your truck?

Then, you also paid a premium for the truck.  Did you even negotiate on it?  I'm looking at a random Chevy site right now in another browser window and they are selling brand new 2018 crew cab, 4x4 LT's for $34,000.  Heck, even the CC LT Z71's are only $36,000.

Amen!

FWIW, I wouldn’t repair the top with body work and new paint either. Repaint is never as good as factory; curing the paint is the primary reason and color match too. Paintless dent repair is best in this case.
