Old New Guy

Recommended Posts

Hello all, my name is John and I live in Washington State.  I'm new to the forums, but I've had GM products most of my life.  In 1966 I started driving in a 1954 4 door Belair?? I believe.  My first pick-up was a 1963 GMC, 2WD purchased in 1972.

Moving ahead a few decades and many vehicles, I now have a 2018 Silverado Z71, Double cab, All Star Edition with a 5.3L and 3.42 rear end.  I'm going to be using it to tow a Flagstaff Micro Lite 21' TT.  Dry weight is 4300lbs and I'm sure with all the stuff we put in, it's closer to 5000lbs.

Spray in bed liner, Husky Liners (floor mats), Nerf Bars and mud guards are done, towing mirrors are on back order and I need to order a tri-fold hard cover for the bed.  Then I'm done spending money, so I told the wife.

Welcome John!

Check with Pgamboa on here about tow mirrors, but he is on vacation this week. He can get you a set likely and also make them power fold and all the other functions they should have.

Nice ride. What part of Washington do you hail from?

Good morning,

Thank you.

In my bio I put Gig Harbor as most people might know where that is, but I actually live on Fox Island.

Fox island huh? I almost acquired some property out there. Someone wanted to trade me a couple of lots for .... I don't remember what. A car? A boat? an ATV? Something like that.

One of my brothers lives in about 30 minutes from there.

Anyway, whats it like living out there?  How is the crime level?

AgDoctor,

Thanks, I'll check it out.

I have K-Source number KS62147-48G on back order, they are heated, electric.  It seems to me that turn signals on mirrors should be a important safety feature regardless of trim level.

It's quiet most of the time, too many people and they keep building.  I think because there is only one way on and off (the bridge) and a citizens patrol, crime is low, but not nonexistent so I still lock my doors and windows at night.

Curious how it worked out for you? Did you install the tow mirrors yourself? Any video I can use to follow? I have the 2019 1500 LD 1LT with 3.42 at 9.4K tow capacity and I need tow mirrors! I can't believe Chevy does not sell trucks with tow mirrors pre-installed!! I am looking at installing the K-Source KS62147-48G
