Looking for the curb weight of the 2018 CCSB 3500

Recommended Posts

I got the load table from Michelin and need to determine my minimum tire pressure for my truck. Its the 2018 duramax CCSB 3500. I appreciate that this can change a little bit depending on trim but i can't even find a place to start. All of the specs online don't list it. At the GVWR (and assuming the max axle weight i found online) the pressures are only 55 front and 70 rear. This is a bit lower than the door sticker and dropping the pressure in the rear 10lbs helps the ride quality immensely.

I would like to further reduce it to the minimum based on my usage and raised as required when i tow my 5th. For that, i need some better specs. Can anyone help?

PS, yes i can weigh it and know about the chalk test, but i would like at least a starting point.

Also, here is the load table that i got from Michelin:

Load inflation pressure for: Michelin LTX AT2 LT265/70R18.

35 PSI = 1,960 lbs.

40 PSI = 2,155 lbs.

45 PSI = 2,340 lbs.

50 PSI = 2,535 lbs.

55 PSI = 2,690 lbs.

60 PSI = 2.860 lbs.

65 PSI = 3,085 lbs.

70 PSI = 3,185 lbs.

75 PSI = 3,345 lbs.

80 PSI = 3,525 lbs.

GVWR - payload (found in yellow sticker on door jamb) would probably be a good place to start.

X2.  Driver door jamb.  That will get the curb weight for your specifically optioned truck, as GM's published payloads are usually base trim level no other options.

He's not looking for weight rating -- he's looking for actual empty weight to set lower pressure to improve ride and tire wear when doing daily driver duty.

Current Selections: TC35743 -- 2WD Standard Box Crew Cab with Single Rear Wheel, JFN -- GVWR, 11,100 lbs. (5035 kg), L5P -- Engine, Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8, B20-Diesel compatible, MW7 -- Transmission, Allison 1000 6-speed automatic

Weight Calculator (lb.)
..............Front......Rear........Total
Base    3,596.9    2,826.1    6,423.0
Options    757.5    12.3    769.8
Total    4,354.4    2,838.4    7,192.8
GVWR    5,200.0    7,050.0    11,100.0
Total Payload    845.6    4,211.6    3,907.2

Should be a starting point. Don't forget to divide by 2 to get tire loads - these are axle weights.

Make sure the numbers from michelin are for the correct load range to match the tires on your truck.

Or go to a truck stop with a scale and have front/rear weighed separately.

Those with 2500's can get the TPMS settings lowered by the dealer.

Well if anyone is searching and come across this thread my 2015 Silverado 2500HD crew cab short box 4x4 6.0 truck with a full tank of fuel, fabric tonneau cover and swing case toolbox with a few small items (150 lbs for tonneau and toolbox I bet) weighs 6860 total. 3820 on the front and 3040 on the rear. I use these weights to get tire pressure ballpark'd.

Order guide (same as I used above) for 2017 2500CC std box 6.0:

Current Selections: TK25743 -- 4WD Standard Box Crew Cab, GEH -- GVWR, 9500 lbs. (4309 kg) With Gasl engine and without (VYU) Snow Plow Prep Package

Weight Calculator (lb.)
.............Front.........Rear........Total
Base    3,854.5    2,678.5    6,533.0
Options    0.0    0.0    0.0
Total    3,854.5    2,678.5    6,533.0
GVWR    4,800.0    6,200.0    9,500.0
Total Payload    945.5    3,521.5    2,967.0

Allowance for tonneau and toolbox makes them pretty close to your measured actuals.

This is close enough for me to estimate ratio's! Thanks!

Actual specs would be best so please let me know if anyone has them for the 4wd, standard box, CC, SRW, 6.6L

I didn't see anything about 2wd / 4wd in your original post --- did I miss it?

Nope, i didn't add it lol. Should have, knowing the numbers would be different. Thanks!!!!

Using the table, one should be safe running 50 front, 35 rear, unloaded for your config. Id likely run 50 all around just to be safe and to account for some payload. Thats awesome news. 80->70 made a huge deal in the rear. Runing 50, safely will be even better!

Ill do the towing/scale method to get the loaded pressures but this will be great for normal commuting.
