Ours was an Akai. Bar I haunted in Boulder (the Dark Horse) used a Teac.

Good memories. Mom's cousin had a high-end hi fi system from the early 70s that he wasn't using anymore, and I got to use it in the early 80s. TEAC reel to reel. EXCELLENT sound.

OMG, did you go to school with me? Mr. Vasbinder? History class. Man could swing that stick and lift you off the floor.

Yeah, those paddles were the thing back in Jr High and High School.

We had a sadistic wood shop teacher who made a big spectacle out of spending a week making one of those paddles and selecting his next victim. The paddle broke in half on his first swat. He was PISSED, as we were rolling on the floor laughing our asses off. He was let go over summer break, and the poor undeserving skinny kid who got the swat never took another vocational class.  Ahh, the late 1970s.
