2004 8100

Recommended Posts

I have seen some of the 2004 ordering information. The new numbers for the 8.1 are 330 h.p., and 440 ft. lbs. of torque. It is not down very much.

Don't make much sense. Unless they detuned the motor becuase of drivetrain problems which seems highly unlikely. Seems more like a slip of the key or a website that don't know. I will tell you that the 8.1 is more motor than the clutch infront of the ZF want's. I drive my buddies truck tach it up and drop the clutch in 3rd to destroy the tires and the clutch shimmies and slips until it catches. He ordered a 4 disc ceramic clutch should be in in a few weeks will give you the heads up then.

I had always heard 340 HP and 455 Lb.-Ft. of Torque. I even have the 03 Silverado brochure in front of me. Quote: "It takes the right balance of horsepower and torque to handle big payloads. The available Big Block Vortec 8100 V8 engine generates 340 horsepower at 4200 rpm and 455 lb.-ft. of torque at 3200 rpm." Who knows what will happen with the 04 models.

If we're lucky, we'll see 340/455 for 2005.
