04 Colorado - Turns over but no start

Recommended Posts

As the title reads!  It used to run for 2-5 seconds and then stall out.  Now it'll still turn over but won't start.  04 Colorado, manual 5 speed with the 4 cylinder engine.  thoughts?  I just bought a fuel pump test kit and will check that....But any other thoughts?  I already bought a newer truck because I needed on asap but would be nice  keep and fix if its something fairly simple, and either sell or keep as a beater truck, only about 150,000 on it.  Thanks!

Gas and spark is all you need. When you turn the key to the on position, do it with the door open and lean outside and you should hear the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds and then stop, is one way to tell if the pump is running. Your kit should also tell you if it has pressure. If no buzzing is heard, check fuses and fuel pump relay. Swap out the relay with another one just like it in the panel and see if you you hear it. Sometimes people hit the tank with a tire tool while trying to start it and that has got them home when the pump is bad.

If the pump is running and it won't start, then check for spark. Good luck. I would keep it for a beater truck, how cool is that!
