Reduced power after new intake

Recommended Posts

So I installed a new airaid mit the other day and after installing it while driving it will go into reduced power mode, at first I thought it was only at full throttle it would do it but now im on the side of the road after it did it at normal throttle. Any idea what could cause this and what I can do about it?

Did you disconnected the negative battery cable? Before installing the cold air intake. If not, then this may your problem that the computer is reading the pre-programmed ECU from the factory intake.

Try following the steps below to see if this clears up your reduced power mode issue.

  1. Disconnect the Negative battery cable.
  2. Verify that the Negative Battery cable has been disconnected for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  3. Reconnect the Negative Battery cable.
  4. Start engine and let idle for a minimum of 15 minutes.

Disconnecting the negative battery cable clears the "Learned" programming and returns all ECU settings back to stock. The 15 minute idle period in step 4 allows the ECU to re-learn and compensate for the less restrictive Cold Air Iintake.
