JET MAF SENSOR # 69180

Recommended Posts

I have been looking for a while at a non-intrusive way to help the lazy throttle response on these trucks.I took a look at the $300 sprint throttle booster but heard horror stories of guys staying without throttle control when they failed. Some research on Youtube and Amazon put me onto the Jet maf sensor so I decided to give it a try since worse case scenario if its snake oil it can just be returned.I took a spirited drive so the current performance of the truck would be fresh on my mind parked the car and installed the sensor then took right off.I intentionally did not disconnect the battery to reset the ecu as to help keep variables the same and avoid a " placebo effect ".To my surprise the installation offered a modest increase in throttle response and some additional wheel spin. The sensor is aesthetically indistinguishable from the factory sensor so I am sure whatever physical alteration is done if any is miniscule but noticeable. The difference feels like the truck either has a bit more timing or a leaner afr so I do not think it would be wise to use one on an already tuned vehicle. The reason I decided to make this post is because when I was researching the topic myself all I could find were people being dismissive with no first hand experience at all.To be clear if warranty is not an issue a tune is going to be %100 the way to go but if you do not plan to tune I think one of these is worth a look.I have tried on my wifes GMC Terrain as well as my Regular Cab 4.3 but here are some guys with modded 6.2 , 5.3 who also seem to like it :

If you get a good tune on stock MAF the throttle isn't lazy any more. If the new MAF has a different response curve than OEM it may help in one area but hurt in another with no way to know for sure other than seat of the pants. And after initial gain the ECU starts to try to adapt to it in closed loop will any gain be nullified? IMO put that $$$ into a good tune that will re calibrate the ECU to get full benefit from your stock control system components.
