Can't go wrong With JL they've been around forever and have always put out good stuff but is kinda high on the price side.

I've got an older JL 1000w amp pushin a W7 and its loud.

I've had great success with Hifonics amps. (i've got 2X HFI1500D and 1 BX2000D) and they just as good as my JL amp or alpine MRD1000 and have better filtering and are stable down to 1ohm and come included with the remote bass control that JL makes you purchase separate.

I use to be into super loud systems but in reality a single quality 10"sub  driven to around 400-500W with a proper designed/spec'd box is easily  able to get loud enough to cause hearing damage and going with a single sub saves you valuable space. Most people really won't need much more .

That being said my very first sub was A single W1 and it wasn't quite loud enough for me. Also had a friend that bought a stealthbox for his subaru that was just a single W1 and he ended up upgrading as well.   I wish JL had a option with the stealthbox's between the single W1 and 2x TW3 for the 17+ silverados.

Is all this doable with the factory head unit?  Been a long time since I've touched car audio.  Ready to add some bass to my 17 2500.  I'm considering the single front console JL Audio stealth box, but if it's insufficient I'll add the second stealth box and give up the under seat storage.  In order to future proof my purchase, is there a single amp that would run all 3 subs?  I'm comfortable paying more up front for the larger amp if it means I can drop in the second dual sub stealth box later on.

What is this bass control knob, where do you mount it?

Ya its pretty easy to add a sub to a stock headunit.  You just use a Line Out Coverter which taps into any speaker and gives you your RCA cable to plug into your amp.  Sometimes a LOC is not even needed as some amps have them basically built in.(such as the JX1000 talked about previously)  Although I personally opt to usually use a separate device as opposed to the amps built in ones.

I always use the audio control LC2i for my LOC which goes for 60-80$  https://www.audiocontrol.com/car-audio/factory-system-upgrade/lc2i/  but there are cheaper options out there as well and tons of choices in brands.

Its not recommended to run different type of subs off a single channel amp.(especially subs which are different impedance and amount of coils). If you were to hook up all 3 subs you are either going to end up blowing the single W1 by providing too much power or under-driving the pair of tw3 which would likely perform worse than just running the pair of subs by themselves. The TW3 by themselves will perform nice and you wont need the single sub. It wont really add much to the overall experience.

My 2 previous experiences with the stealthboxes with single W0 or W1 subs left me rather underwelmed for a 1000$+ sub setup.

For the price of a stealthbox you can piece your own system together that will perform A LOT better.  There are lots of sub enclosure available for these trucks and I would personally go for a single quality sub enclosure under the rear seat which seams like a good compromise between the two stealthbox options.

The remote bass control knob is just that a Knob you can mount up front and allows you turn up or down the amount of bass easily from the front seat.  I usually mount them in vehicles right beside the hood release lever under the dash but really they can be mounted anywhere you desire just like the example above.

I just replaced my factory 5” Bose subwoofer with a JL AUDIO Stealthbox 10” subwoofer.

The factory Bose system sounded good but low end bass was severely lacking especially at mid (1/2) to high volume (3/4)

I left the 4 door and 2 dash speakers Bose and the stock 175 watt Bose amp. Adding the 10” JL sub and 300 watt at 2 ohms JL amp, system sounds perfect now. IMHO.

I like how this stealthbox fit under center console so I didn’t have to sacrifice under rear seat space.

Center console was fairly easy to remove.

Open armrest top top and pull up on lip to remove the entire fake wood, cup holders, usb, ac top piece.

Then 6 10mm bolts.

Then 2 14mm? Bolts on rear bottom near back seat storage on lower back sides.

Very interested in knowing what wires you tapped in to @2009GMCfor the signal and power on/off for the amp.  Did you mount the amp behind the rear seat?  Thanks!

JL audio xd300/1v2 is really compact for 300 watts at 2 ohms. Recommended rms for this stealthbox

I tapped into the factory Bose sub wires. The Bose amp is on the back cab wall behind the rear seat. Unplug the furthest plug on the right from the amp.  Blue with black stripe is positive. Gray with black stripe is negative.

I ran these two wires into the left channel of my audio control LC2i.  I then made two short wires to bridge over to the right channel of my LC2i.  I ran out of wire taps so I just ran a positive and negative from my amp to the LC2I.

The audio control LC2i  detects speaker level input. No need for remote turn on wire wire. I then ran L & R RCA’s to my JL audio xd300/1v2 amp. The amp senses RCA inputs to turn on so no remote wire needed.

The amp and LC2i are currently sitting under the backseat. I may Velcro them to the cab wall or secure them to the carpet since I don’t want to drill holes through the cab floor.

I haven’t noticed anything out of phase the door speakers still carry a little bit of bass and they seem to match when the sub hits. Maybe it’s only out of phase if you tap into one of the door speakers? I do have the 6.2 with active noise cancellation

Hey all just wanted to say the single jl stealth box Sounds great and is a huge upgrade from the Bose sub. I now understand why the bose sub did not hit as hard or at such low frequencies. Whatever is in your center console will vibrate and Rattle now LOL

I now have massaging seats, massaging center console, and massaging door armrest, Depending on the bass line. The single 10 inch JL vibrates the rearview mirror no problem.

Now I’m noticing an annoying squeak and rattle on the passenger side dash near the dash Bose speaker. It is not the speaker blown or anything. If I turn the sub down and just run the bose door – speakers there are no squeaks or rattles but as soon as you start running the sub hard you start noticing squeaks and rattles.

DUB1796, where did you purchase that box? The one with the GMC logo. Have you been happy with that? Thank you!

I built it for a customer. That's my go to enclosure for the sierra/silverado, it hits hard. If your looking to buy a similar enclosure within the US, check out MTI acoustics.

All jl sub stealth boxes produce more then enough bass for most people. I prefer 12s bc they hit the lower notes compared to 10s. This is what I built for myself.
