lryfer
Well the 2007 Silverado 4x4 Classic has 95K miles on it. Time to get ready to do the 100K drive train services. So a few questions as i have had dealer do these previously. Getting too costly now days and want to tackle myself. Here is a list of what i think i will be doing. Chime in on suggestions or comments. Rear diff drain and fill w 75-90 Synthetic - Fluid brand unknown. 2 qts? Front Diff 80/90W - Does diff have drain plug or will i need a suction tool? 2 qts? Transfer Case -Drain Refill 2 qts Auto Trac II fluid. Tranny pull pan, change filter and refill. - No flush too many horror stories of issues after flush. Replace air filter. Engine oil change What else? Spark Plugs & Wires? Dealer stated to do the brake and P/S fluid changed as well. This a good idea? Growing up never changed these in my vehicles and had no issues then. Any suggestions on type of fluid to use in any of these components let me know. Thx in advance.
newdude
75w90 in the front and rear. GM had a bulletin that state 75w90 was fine for the front due to some slow front end engagement. Transfer case, do you have the Autotrac case (AUTO button on the t-case shifter)? Just making sure because if its just regular 4x4, those take something else. Fluids, I'm an OEM kinda guy, but depends on how deep your pockets are feeling, as the GM diff fluid is $$$. Brake fluid should be every 3-5 years due to its ability to absorb water. P/S wouldn't hurt either.
lryfer
Thank you for the input. GM way too costly for this guy. Anyone know what the difference is between ACDelco, Amsoil, Mobile 1, Valvoline 75-90Wt gear oil? Or is it just a brand name preference? The truck has G80 in the glove box so any additional additives needed for this code?
txab
Mostly preference. Any of those you listed will be fine Correct the G80 needs no additional friction modifiers
