K2 underbed notch

I have a brand new underbed notch for a k2 Silverado made by twisted metal workz

 

I had them make it specifically to how I wanted. So it's basically the size of a c notch with the strength of an underbed notch.  

 

Its big and heavy

Sorry for the mist likely dumb question but what is this notch setup designed to do or accomplish...just not familiar and am curious.

So you can lower the truck more. Its a frame notch.
