It’s 2018 and still no Panoramic SunRoof on top trims

Ironically enough...my buddy has a 2016 (or 17?)  Ford...guess what...its in the shop this week...for yep, pano needing a new track...i'm good without the additional headache...

You're missing the point.  They ALL leak or in other words, allow water in, and the drains allow the water to escape where they want/need it to when working properly.  You've been lucky apparently and have never had a drain become clogged enough or become disconnected to where the water then doesn't escape properly, that you've noticed anyway.

 

Newer seals do a better job of keeping water out obviously but they are not 100% water tight, especially when the vehicle is no longer new and has sat outside being subjected to the sun and extreme temperature, both hot and cold.  If you lube the seals regularly, they will withstand the deterioration better but again, they are not 100% water tight.  If you ever looked in the trays when you had your sunroof open, you would see water residue in the dust/dirt that you will also find there. 

 

Most of the time, many people don't realize there is a leak until a heavy rainfall event or a period of regular daily rain over a number of days.  The water will usually still drain down the a-pillar, but in the trim panels and not inside the drains, and puddle up in the floor pans.  The amount of deadening material on the carpet in vehicles will help cover the water so it still goes unnoticed or not as noticeable.  I've worked on too many vehicles of various makes and models with both sunroofs and panoramic roofs to say other wise.

Yeah. those types have always leaked.  Looks like GM might have snuck some window/windows on rear passengers for 2019 Denali.....I do think something is there but knowing GM they might be windows like on Malibu maxx which will not leak or shouldn't......

Panoramic roofs decrease structural stability. Not to mention they have a habit of leaking.

I agree they should have it as an option but one could also ask why the other trucks don't have a HUD? The HUD is likely far more useful day to day than the extra sunroof. Having said this, a panoramic roof wouldn't be a dealer breaker for me buying a GM and a lack of HUD on the others wouldn't be a deal breaker for me buying them. I'm much more interested in what GM has in store for power ratings and actual useful truck-like things especially if the weight loss translates in to some added capacity which is probably a given.

If they added a pano, they better install a panty box to compliment it. Ford went all in on this, they never put a panty box in the cab of the truck; they made the whole truck bed an aluminum panty box.

You’re not. I could care less how everyone feels about them. I like them and they should offer them since the two major competitors already do.

Actually, you are missing the point. I also have never had a leak in over 30 years of driving. They all dont leak. A pano roof is a chick option - nut up and be happy with a rectangle which is plenty vitamin D for a dude...

@Texas Daddy, LOL.  So you are saying that water has never gotten past the seals and went down the drains from the sunroof frame on your vehicles???  Yes newer vehicles/seals do a better job at keeping water from entering but they ALL have drains because it is normal for water to enter and they are just controlling the leak.  I'm not saying that all leaks will flood your floorboard, I am simply stating that water does leak passed the seals as car washes are a very common culprit in this.  I am also not saying that all the drains fail but whenever they do fail, it causes a mess.  You apparently have been fortunate enough as well to not have a drain become clogged or disconnected, congratulations.

 

If someone wants the option for a panoramic roof or sunroof, fine.  I don't care for either for various reasons besides the leaking aspect.  All I ask for is if GM does eventually offer a panoramic roof, please don't make the option required in order to get other options or trim levels,  like manufactures already do including GM.

IMO Sunroofs are the most over rated option. I have never even had mine open on my last three trucks. The Fords I have rode in with the full panorama roof are just plain stupid!
