Donstar
My manual reads that the plug outlet on my dash is good for cell phones and mp3 players. Has anyone tried powering other things like small vacuums or power tools with this outlet? I've never used it and wondering what it is capable of powering without harm to device or vehicle. truckguy82
I’ve powered a hedge trimmer with it. I feel like I’ve powered a few other things but forget what they were. Never had any issues. But definitely a hedge trimmer on multiple occassions.
bkesting
Anything that is more than 150 watts or draws more than 15 amps will cause the outlet circuit to shut off as a protection. Power tools and vacuums are likely a no-no

You’re talking about 15 amps @ 12 volt, and nobody is going to know what their 110volt tool draws unless they do the math, which most won’t. I'm just going off what the owner's manual says: "If equipped with this power outlet, it can be used to plug in electrical equipment that uses a maximum limit of 150 watts. An indicator light on the outlet turns on to show it is in use. The light comes on when the ignition is in ON/RUN, equipment requiring less than 150 watts is plugged into the outlet, and no system fault is detected. The indicator light does not come on when the ignition is in LOCK/OFF or if the equipment is not fully seated into the outlet. If equipment is connected using more than 150 watts or a system fault is detected, a protection circuit shuts off the power supply and the indicator light turns off. To reset the circuit, unplug the item and plug it back in or turn the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) off and then back on. The power outlet is not designed for the following, and may not work properly if they are plugged in: - Equipment with high initial peak wattage, such as compressor-driven refrigerators and electric power tools - Other equipment requiring an extremely stable power supply, such as microcomputer-controlled electric blankets and touch sensor lamps - Medical equipment

aseibel
powered a slow cooker on low setting while driving to a party. I also plugged in the air mattress blower/inflator.

Most chargers are just USB and can plug into any cig lighter. You never really know when you're going to need it guess. Just handy to have it. SteveBBB
We had a 3 hour drive to Thanksgiving dinner last year, wife plugged in our crockpot and cooked baked beans all the way. Smelled pretty good!! 2

Robert Sutton
I have found the 110V plug to be pretty useless. I charger my drill battery with it once and a laptop once. But it cuts off for my Air Pump. I wish you could easily upgrade the inverter to a 400w. Competitor trucks have 400w inverters.

hbtnon10
Ya my 17 Ferd has a 400 watt inverter. It’s still pretty junky, modified sine wave. Dumps a ton of noise into the audio system too, only good for laptop.
