2002 HD with 6" lift - will 37s fit?

Recommended Posts

I'd like to replace my 325/60/18 Nitto tires (33x13) with a set of 355/65/18 (37x14). The truck has a 6" Trailmaster lift, 18x10 AE 102 wheels and I've cranked the torsion bars a little. I wouldn't mind using a 3" body lift to get some more room under there but my main concern is being pulled over for a truck that is to high. I'm in Massachusetts where their lift laws is are as long as a novel so the truck would really stand out in this area. I've also heard that there isn't enough room in the engine compartment of the 8.1 and Duramax trucks to allow them to use a body lift.

Here is what it looks like now -

If these won't work I'll just go with a set of 35x13s.

Thanks,

Tom

You should use an 8" lift to clear 37's. It's possible to use them with a 6" lift, but you have to do a lot of trimming. The bumper is the main problem, especially with a 14" wide tire, you are going to have to cut into the bumper for clearance. Depending on your lift right now, you may be able to get another couple inches with a torsion bar key change and/or crank. It looks like your A-arms are at a steeper than stock angle, did the 6" lift drop the mounts by 6"?
