Random engagement of 4hi transfer case

Recommended Posts

Have had a quick look around, and didn't find anything related to my issue identically, so here I go.

Recent trip, at highway speeds, my 2005 Sierra 1500 SLE Z71 would randomly switch from 2wd to 4hi. In a 300km plus trip, it did it 3 times, and once was at about 100kph. (62mph). It has the push button dash option, and along with the small impossible to see in the sunlight indicator light, can go un-noticed right away. If it wasn't for the less than happy noises associated with engaging 4wd at high speeds, could be disastrous, if it already isn't. Is this something that others have experienced? My guess out of the gate is electrical, but I am just in the preliminary stages of cause and effect troubleshooting.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and if you are close enough, a cold beer is in your future......

This system is 100% module controlled , you need to have it scanned before anything else is even thought about ... ok?
