2018 Silverado Engine Squeak

Recommended Posts

I've owned my 2018 Silverado for less than 6 weeks and it has been making a squeaking noise coming from the engine  compartment, once the engine is warmed up. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I have an appointment to have it looked at by the dealer but I'm assuming the dealership won't be able to tell me whats wrong based on passed experience. I'll try to include a short video below where you can here the squeking noise.

Power steering pump, idler pulley, alternator, water pump, anything that spins.

Get an auto stethoscope and listen for it yourself.

So I got the truck back after the dealer having it for 3 days. Of course the response I got was "this is a normal engine noise" and they referred me to a service bulletin for the Traverse stating the noise comes from the high pressure oil pump and that it was "designed" to do this.

I'm not sure what my next move will be but I'm not satisfied with the response I got from this dealership. Thinking I'll try another that's close by as there are at least 4 dealers within an hour drive.

My 2017 is making a squeaking noise somewhere in the belt system. Going to dealer today. Will advise of what they say when I get it back. The noise on mine sounds like its coming from the A/C compressor clutch. Does squeaks constant when the A/C is off. When I turn on the A/C it becomes intermittent.

It really sounds like a bearing on a pulley. My old truck made that noise til I did an idler pulley. Stethoscopes are amazing tools and under 10 dollars. Think I saw one at advance for 8 bucks. I got mine online. Maybe Amazon. My truck is doing that noise now and will be using it tomorow. Could let you know if I pin point it.
