As one of the 12k trucks I just wish there was some transparent look at what is being done. It is clear the chat guys have no clue what's happening and my dealer doesn't either. It is one thing to have an extended wait, it is another to just be indefinitely held without any update and see newer orders and more loaded trucks being sent out while mine sits. Disheartening to see them opening up production when my completed truck sits getting lot rot.

Absolutely should be getting you updates if your truck is one of the ones sitting in purgatory lol

We had one that I presold a couple months back, found out it was on semi-conductor hold, so I unwound the deal, and got him in another truck.  I had to eat a little money to make it happen, but sometimes you have to do stuff to keep a customer happy.  His original truck is still sitting in wait, so he's happily driving his new truck while we wait for an update on the other.  Last we heard on our trucks on hold, it could be more towards Q4 before they start doing anything on them.

Man that's interesting, so the SUVs are not experiencing constraints on the same packages?

I ordered an AT4 w/ technology package because my rationale is that if I am buying a 55k truck, I might as well spend the extra 4k on all the bells and whistles...

But seeing that they just took out AFM/DFM as well as the auto start/stop, I don't think the driver alert 1/2 are gonna be off constraint anytime soon...

There are plenty more bells & whistles to be had if you spent $55K.

Q4!!!?? yeah no such help at my dealer. He offered at one point to give me back my deposit but to start a new deal now would mean a whole new deal at a much higher price. He keeps telling me that sold orders have priority on the held trucks. Sounds like he is full of crap. No way in hell I'm paying full price for a 2021 when people are taking delivery on a 2022. Makes me want to say screw a GM truck all together (I know all makers are having chip issues).

2022 production is being pushed until 2021 models are caught up, or at least that's how we understood it to be in our last GM call

Even so, I don't think I want to buy a truck that's been collecting 6 months of lot rot. I get the limitations, I just wish they would be honest with me about my situation. SOMEONE knows more than what I've been told and has us all speculating.

Your only option at this point is to pay full price for a truck 6 months to a year old or pay over MSRP for a new truck.  I would rather have the truck and pay less for it than pay more and hope that I can find a new one.  You’re gonna have to pick which flavor of hell you want.

Didn’t I read that your truck has been finished for 3 weeks now?  Imagine it being finished since February with no info since then.  That’s the situation I’m in.  And I ordered from a large volume dealer.

This is a huge log jam and I have resigned to standing in my spot in mine until it’s resolved.  If you get out of that line because something else looks better, good luck because someone else will have already taken your spot.

Interesting! I bet it will be well into the 4Q before these units are delivered. I’m wounding if GM is only filling orders for 2021 purchased units. ( No dealer stock)

One must question how many 2021’s will be on lot when 2022 roll out in a few months. Could possibly be some  favorable deals.

This is very true. I know of a Ford I could buy right now with comparable cost but I'm not sure my soul will allow me to do such blasphemy lol. The waiting game is probably my game as well (despite me extreme level of anger here hah) Like I said I think my two main gripes are less the waiting and more the uneven treatment (some new - similar - orders being pushed out) and the just total pretending on the GM end that this isn't happening. At least the dealer is being straight with me now. I get dealer orders being in a major uneven line but one would think there would be some order or logic to the sold orders being completed.

What's up folks!!

For the first time in my life, I am finally in a good position to purchase a brand new vehicle, and I have been eyeing the 2019-2021 Silverado's for quite awhile, in fact, ever since they came out.  I am looking to buy a nice Crew Cab RST in the next few months, but I see the selection has really dwindled down since the last time I was actually looking online before the pandemic!  Is it really that bad right now?  I want a Crew cab, 5.3 Liter, with the center console and 20 inch wheels.   Z71, 4wd, even Max trailer pkg would be nice, but not necessary.  I was hoping to stay in the low to mid 40s.... is that just unrealistic at this point?   I have been trying to read back within the thread to get caught up on the current state of inventory, and it sounds like folks have been waiting MONTHS for trucks they ordered to be delivered, which tells me, dealer inventory on the lot is scarce.

Thanks for all the replies/advice everyone.  At this point, I probably will just wait to see how this all turns out.  I am really curious how they will rollout the 2022s, and how that will impact the remaining unsold 2021 inventory.  If I just HAPPEN upon a decent deal, I will jump on it, but otherwise, I am thankfully not in any rush to purchase.  I have to figure that everything will normalize eventually, if not by the end of this year, then early '22.

Interesting convo for my situation.  I sold my 2009 SLT very quickly 3 weeks ago. Luckily work from home, so one car family has been doable.  I’ve been watching dealer sites like a hawk. Finally found a ‘21 AT4 with $10,400 in rebates and made my deposit last night.  In transit and was told delivery is July 1st. We’ll see.  I just couldn’t wait any longer. This AT4 was cheaper than most used trucks in my area.
