I'll also guarantee you that MA throws more road salt down in a single storm than you guys get all year up there. I was in the city 3 weeks ago, temps in the mid 40's (fahrenheit), and the roads were PURE WHITE with brine, and piles of rock salt all along the shoulder, and in the center of each lane where the wheels don't touch.

Not to start a pissing match but our roads  are no better here in the winter. We get bad black ice, along with constant thaw and freezing the roads here are saluted from the end of October to the end of April. The city here put salt down 3 days before a storm which makes it so much fun keeping your windshield clean. I don’t undercoat my truck and I usually keep them 5-7 years. Also work in a mine and have to drive through tailings mud, still don’t get the rust your talking out. There is a difference between surfaces rust and rust through. The new trucks have been using galvanized  metal and electro plated steel so I don’t see what the issue is. The wax coating comes off in a few seasons but that just surface oxidation. It’s not like your frame is rusting through like a Toyota. But then again I do drive through the touchless carwash at least 3 times a week.

It's not rusting through because I've been oiling the undercarriage for 9 years now. I've seen other Chevy 1500's newer than mine in MUCH worse shape, body and undercarriage. They don't electroplate underneath - only body panels .. and even that doesn't hold up more than 10 years around here, if you're lucky. Automakers today use the cheapest possible metals available. Just take a look at where your GM is built today and where the parts come from - Toyota has more American content than any GM these days ...

Around here at least, carwashes are the WORST thing you can do. Thanks to militant environmentalism, the salt washed off the cars ends up recycled with the water ... so what you're doing is giving your vehicle a high-pressure sea water blast. That's the main car killer around here, and nobody even realizes it. Much better off to drag out the hose on a warmer day and rinse it down.

It's not so much the weather I'm speaking of - it's the GOVERNMENT. They want the roads nearly dry at all times in the biggest of blizzards, undoubtedly driven by the insurance industry ... who happens to be pretty close to MA's state gov't. MA is one of the only states in the union that regulates what insurers can charge - if you don't play ball with the state, you're not allowed to insure here. The other issue is the lack of personal responsibility. People will head out with bald tires and crash ... then sue the state for not putting enough liquid car dissolver on the roadways. We see it every winter when the entire city of Worcester grinds to a halt, as thousands of cars across the city get stuck on the slightest incline, and gridlock the entire city front to back. Idiots everywhere ... but that's another topic for another day.

Seem to me you need a beer and maybe need to move to Canada. We don’t have those issue here. I’f your car washes are recycling water that sucks. Around my parts they don’t. Gotta do what we gotta do I guess.

Congrats and here’s hoping everything goes as planned!   I was told 1/8 mine was in transit but dealer doesn’t know when it will arrive.   Hopefully soon.

is it only the HC premium wheels that ship separately?   Wonder why that is.

Wow! Congratulations! It is gorgeous. I'm still waiting. It sounds like you made a mistake in picking the right rims. Just kidding. They will change them for you.

AFAIK all 22" wheels ship separately to avoid damage in transit, they did for K2s also.  Those black wheels are "transit" wheels, and the dealer is expected to take those tires off and remount them onto the regular wheels shipped separately.

Call me crazy but those wheels with some chrome moon hub caps to cover the lug nuts I think would look cool!  They would make for a great set of winter wheels for those up north.

My dealer sent me a pic of the wheels going on the truck and they already had tires mounted on them.

I asked around at dealers since I wanted a winter set but no one local would sell them, they all insisted they had to be returned although rumor has it they're supposed to be destroyed.  Just a core charge either way anyway.  You can get them on eBay though.

I just checked Ebay and it looks like they get around $500 a set for them. They do look good on the older trucks!

Looks like mine is Built-in the US after all. It was built yesterday. With me being a couple miles from you I should receive it at the end of the month. Thank you for the update!
