Tire change from Nitto 295/55/20 to 275/60/20 Duratracs

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I am going to switch tires, I currently have Nitto Trail Grappler MT's in 295/55/20 on my 2017 GMC Elevation 4WD with 2.5 rough country level, I like the tires and looks a lot, but the ride quality and noise is getting old.

I am looking at getting the Goodyear Duratracs in 275/60/20 Load range SL/ Load index 115 (part #150678601)

I don't do much towing or heavy hauling with my truck, will this tire be ok?

I want to keep the aggressive look as much as I can and from the research I have done it appears from what I can see the Duratracs will do a pretty good job at that, I know they are awesome in snow from everything I have read, are they a good on road (highway/ interstate,  and off road (nasty fire trail in mountains, ruts, mud, rocks, hills stream crossing , when hunting in WV) .

I have been doing lots of research because I have been going back and forth with the Duratrac and BF Goodrich KO2's, really seems like flip a coin?

Can you guys that have a similar tire and size chime in, some actual real world advice, maybe post a few pics of actual tire mounted and tread.

I really appreciate it!!

Why don't you go to the Nitto Ridge Grappler if you want to keep the aggressive look. I ran a set in 295/55/20 last Summer and they were pretty damn quiet for an aggressive looking tire. I switched to the Toyo MT in the same size and they are definitely louder then the Ridge Grapplers.

I've never ran the  Duratracs, but I have read several post complaining that they wear quickly with Summer heat due to there compound.

Here is a picture of the Ridge Grappler.

I second @SSchup as I just had Ridge Grapplers put on and am ecstatic on how quiet they are. I only put on 285/55R20 as I only have adjustable Bilsteins up front for ~2" lift and would need a 2.5" in the front to go higher without rubbing. Plus I have only heard good things about these tires and I was a Toyo AT2 person, which could be quite loud.

I have a Nitto Ridge Grapplers 20x33x12 with a 5” RC Lift Kit , I drove 180 miles daily, and The ride quality and noise are real good on the hwy.

I like them because of the aggressive look.

i just purchased 275/65/20 ridge grapplers through discount tire on ebay. i’ve been researching tires for the past couple months and these have been at the top of my list for performance and the best appearance IMO. pulled the trigger this evening mainly because discount tire currently has a $100 dollar instant rebate promo going on so i found an auction for a quantity of two tires and worked the system a little bit and did it twice. so if anyone’s on the fence as i was i thought i would throw this out there for you. i didn’t look at other sizes but i would assume it’s the same promo
