2017 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 wireless phone charger

Recommended Posts

I have a question:

Does anyone know what it would take to add a wireless phone charging unit to the center console lid of a 2017 Silverado 1500  LTZ Z71?   the lid style is the same as the charger integrated models. however,  the lid charging unit was not a option  on my upscale LTZ ?  would  obviously like to install one of possible ?

LTZ with no wireless charger seems weird , but you are not missing anything ,if you use android auto or car play it has to be plugged in anyway, the stock coil on mine is useless for the galaxy phone line. Coil is too far back for this very popular phone .and it is a single coil charger which are slower than an aftermarket ! I really think there is a simple fix but GM missed the mark , maybe other phones work but mine does not , haven't tried my wife's phone yet, !  You would think after all the complaints they would change it , ! but it is a great truck

I had a 2018  Yukon loaner and it has the same problem with wireless charging a samsung galaxy  ,I don't use a case , even though the phone is like holding on to a chunk of slippery ice

I would think calling salvage yards and try to find one out of a new lid salvage yard you may get lucky but u may lose a port under the lid because yours probably doesn't have the harness,

factory wireless charger is a POS.  I don't use it, don't bother.  I'm actually surprised it's not in your LTZ.

edit:  your truck has a front bench seat?  not a full center console?

Wireless phone chargers are the future, I think. It is much easier to use, that's for sure. But it has its disadvantages, in my opinion, it's not as fast as the original charger.

If you have the correct size phone, and a good wireless charger case, the trucks are pretty quick.

Plus the added bonus of "flinging" your phone into the back seat each time you forget it is there and open the console lid?
