Larger Gas Tank

I have a 2003 Chevy HD CC 6.0 and want more driving range. I have looked at the Transferflow 45 gallon replacement tank. I see in the info it sets 1" below the frame rail. Any chance of rubbing the bottom of tank during off roading? Anyone have one of these? Any other options? Any information appreciated. Thanks

What did you end up doing? I am also interested in a larger fuel tank. Mine is a 1500HD cc with the 6.0L I am not sure they make a tank for mine being its a 1500HD and not the 2500HD??

I believe you're both correct. On the 2500 HD you WILL contact the gas tank FIRST when off roading. It hangs about 1" below the frame rail. Also, I do not believe they make a larger tank for a 1500HD as the frame cannot handle it.

I did not find any replacement tanks for the 1500HD's I did find a transfer tank if you are willing to give up bed space for it. I am out of town right now or I would give more info on it. (Dallas, TX) The tank went up in front of the bed and was diamond plated. It looked like a small toolbox and I believe it went under the bed rails. My concern was that I have a cap and would have no way to fill it up. One more thing it holds 30gals or you could get an "L" shaped one that holds 55gals. If anyone is interested I will get more info when I get back to St. Louis, MO (home)

This is a subject I too have been giving serious thought. I even contacted a custom fuel tank fabrication shop in ElPaso, Texas. The person I spoke to (Hector) was very receptive to the idea of making tanks for the masses.
