Recommended Posts

basic quick question....2400 pounds in the bed of a 2500HD...any problems?

i gotta pick up around 30 80 pond bags of quickrete and i was wondering if it will be ok in the bed or do i need a trailer? its gonna be 2400lbs. truck shouldnt have a problem with this if i can get it over the rear axle right? I haul more than this all the time but its always been on a trailer. Unfortunately all trailers are in use right now. thanks for the help.

Hmmm,,,,, shouldn't be too much of a problem. I have the extended-cab short bed. Before I bought my 5th wheel, I had a Lance camper that weighed over 3,000 pounds. BUT, the reason I bought the short bed to begin with was that it had a load carrying capcity of about 500 pounds more then the long bed (based on weight of the truck with similar equipment). Not sure what your truck weighs. You may want to find out first. Just subtract the weight of your truck from 9200 and you'll have your max rated carrying capacity. BTW, I also have the airbags in the back to level the load. Also don't forget to put 80lbs of air pressure in your tires when carrying the heavy load.

You will be fine. I loaded mine with roughly 3,000 pounds of limestone. It handled it much better than I thought it would. It handled it much better than I did, in fact!!!

Not a problem,

About a month ago, I hauled 1/2 yard of bulk bluestone and threw another 10 bags of quickcrete on top. Truck actually seemed to like the extra weight.

I didn't punch up the pressure on my rears, only had to drive 15 miles and they are normally at 80 anyway (per the door jamb sticker)

bummed.
