Good point but it is hard to get away from the bigger is better thinking!  Even though I am comfortable with a 6 cylinder in my truck, I still like knowing it's a big 6!

I hear you brother.  I really do .

I also dont believe the 4.3 is going Away. Gm just did some major work on it 4 years ago and I can just see some more updates where its rated @ 300 hp and like 320 TQ

Speaking of old trucks and specs...

Here’s a magazine review of my 79 k10 with sbc 400 cu 6.6L

185hp @3600

300tq @ 2400

my real world mpg

8 city

10 Highway

LOL

I’m sure the late 70’s head design doesn’t help and the low 8.5.1 compression.

Blueprint engines has a new 400 that puts out 460hp and 470 tq 10:3:1 compression for 5k. Saving.....

Maybe the 4.3 will be available later. It is a great motor and was putting out some good numbers. I would think GM would keep it around or give it a power bump. It would be a nice addition to the Colorado and canyon!

4.3 LV3 EcoTec3 2014 - 2018

285hp @ 5300

305tq @ 3900

11.0:1 compression

Seems like I read somewhere the v-6 is only going to be offered to fleet sales . Also 6 speed tranny gone except for fleet sales . But article also is speculation....not GM factual.

that is where the 292 and giant rochester monojet finished off as well.

I was very disappointed with any v6.

I remember an s15 pulling into our quik lube, with anoise.

the crank was broken.

36k miles.

that was 1993-4.

GM, the only one in history to have balanced a six (the corvair)with benz crank...

good riddens to the v6.

I just drove a big ford subaurbam (I forget the name of it :) twin turbo v6 allover florida, and that was fun..

still not an n/a v8 and reality. Midgets climb, with their off balance midget theories... let them.

Meanwhile, real trucks need to move on.

leave gm alone.

I am running a L30 from 1996.. I declared the 305 my favorite smallblock in the 90s.

lo and behold all v8s on earth revolve around 5 liters.

I predate a lot of stuff.

all my predictions came true.

Really makes me wonder if the rumor of a 4 cylinder is true lol. I read somewhere that a 4 cylinder turbo was going to replace it except in fleet sales.

Unless that 4 cylinder turbo is a 4-53T Detroit Diesel, I have no interest lol.

The displacements of the older motors may have a similar number attached but other similarities are coincidental.  Comparing a 4.3 from a 90's S15  to the current 4.3 is interesting but has little relevance.   The 5.0L V8's of the 80's and 90's have been surpassed in power and efficiency by all truck  V6's in this decade.  I appreciate , and have owned, older small V8's but I wouldn't opt for a 230 hp V8 over a 285 hp V6.

Where do these rumors come from? And if but a rumor, why spread it?
