We are shooting a three part mini series showing how to change the gear lube on Cliff's 2014 Silverado with the 5.3L Eco Tec V8. The three videos will show how to change the front differential, transfer case, and rear differential fluids. This process also applies to the 2014 - 2018 Tahoe, Suburban, Sierra, Yukon, and Escalade All fluid is being changed to compatible Amsoil Gear Lube.

Capacity: The front differential takes approximately 3 Pints according to amsoil.

Per the GM owners manual: When the differential is cold, add enough lubricant to raise the level from 0 mm (0 in) to 3.2 mm (1/8 in) below the fill plug (1) hole. When the differential is at operating temperature (warm), add enough lubricant to raise the level to the bottom of the fill plug (1) hole.

The torque spec for the fill and drain plug are 24ft-lbs.

Fluids: GM recommends 80w-90 fluid while Amsoil recommends 75w-90. We contacted Amsoil and they assured us that 75w-90 was compatible with our differential. The GM Part number is 89021671, in Canada 89021672
