5.3 bearing clearances

Recommended Posts

My manual for the 1950 Chevy 3100's list nearly every part. It's dimensions, materials and at times, state heat treatment. In fact there is darn little left unknown after you read it. Including things you are now told today are 'unknowable'.

I feel for ya. It shouldn't be this hard.

Does anyone know the clearances for these new 5.3s? Supposedly they’re much tighter than older 5.3s, but i haven’t found anything on the actual clearances.

They are probably tighter than you would want to believe is possible......The specified oil required, GM's insanely attention to detail on CRANK material, journal finishes etc....seeing how all of these engines shed massive amounts of copper during break in....These engines are cut above the competition no doubt!

I would like to think so, but old 5.3s had a pretty big range of tolerances
