Laser jammers

Recommended Posts

I've been researching laser jammers and was wondering if anyone had actual experiences with these units. I've seen only one in person that a friend has installed on his car.

This unit does actually work as I've seen it jam those laser units that are left on the roadside to discourage speeders.

I was also looking at these units and was hoping someone had installed either of them and could give some feedback.

Course one thing you need to remember with these units is to slow down immediately and shut it off when it detects a laser signature.

Radar detector or jammer would be good. However, the police dept. here discontinued its use about two years ago ever since the scare regarding it causing tumors in people that use them. So for my application, its strictly laser.

I have always heard that jammers don't really work....and as far as detecting them...unless you are lucky enough to get a bounce off someone else's car....one it goes off, they have you....and getting a bounce is probably pretty much out of the question also.....

Make sure you don't waste your money on those license plate covers that make your car "invisible" either....what a joke.....I have heard a ricer say one the reason he had his car painted in primer grey was because it didn't reflect lasers and radar.....now if that was the case don't you think tanks....and every airplane would be painted in primer grey.....kid shoulda stayed in school

Around here, Idaho and Montana...laser is rarely used, it takes too much aim to hit the target and the roads are curvy. They are using Pop Radar now. I have a detector and it is basically useless on the highway. You'll know when you are hit with it, as your radar detector will go nuts right away, the police have you the second they turn it on, no time to brake.

Got tagged in Montana, luckily you pay cash on the side of the road and it never hits your record...rather funny to had a cop cash on the highway and you are off and running.

laser jamming is a myth, and the roadside units used to discourage speeders work off radar. Radar can be jammed.. but lasers are very difficult - mostly becuase the cop can target any part of your vehicle, and most jammers mount near one license plate! Plates are reflective.. but unless your car is matte finished, it doesn't really matter. Primer WILL defeat laser, but not radar (that takes engineering).

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one...Your car has so many refelctive point on it..I.E..Licence plate, glass, lights, metal under the car....that painting the exterior will do absolutely nothing. When the radar gun is pointed at your car, it hits the entire things, not a point (like laser)....so even if the primer did absorb the laser(which is doesn't) it would still bounce off the windsheild, head lights, metal bumper....etc
