We've had several nights below freezing and my 5.3 with original factory oil, I  only have 4500 miles on it, starts fine but the rods rattle for a second or two.

I might ask the dealer if they'll put in 5W and if so get the first free change early.

After reading the above link is it possible the extended crank times were intentional for oil pressure to rise and since it does not list 2017's maybe they took it out.

Are they talking fuel pump or oil pump, not really too clear.

Wasn't Slick 50 sued and pulled from the market a few years back for being snake oil?

I wouldn't run it...if it was so great, the big oil companies would buy it to use the formula.

How will a higher viscosity oil help with oil reaching rotating parts quicker in cold weather?

Hoping there will be a film left from shutdown from Dexos1 5w30

On my 2007 Silverado with the older engine I noticed no difference between 0w20 and 5w30 but this is a different beast.

It's the high pressure fuel pump. There are two fuel pumps. A low pressure electrical pump in the fuel tank and a high pressure mechanical pump that sits in the valley of the engine (driven off a lobe on the camshaft).

The pickup pump sends it to the charge pump needs extremely high pressure and probably 40 and below ALL GM DI engines will operate in this manner of longer crank times to reach pressure.....The DI's are a different animal that is for sure!  Mine has 44k plus and unbelievably strong I have no doubt these engines are far and away a cut above any small block GM has done extremely impressed...oh. and 20.5 mpgs right now?  Sick, couldn't pay me to spool up a 2.7 and call this acceptable?

No, they lost their rear honoring their engine warranty...which they stopped in 2013....GM axed it's powertrain warranty in 2016..  you will be SOL if your motor croaks at 60,500 miles now. ..

It's amazing how less amps and torture on the battery is needed to start this truck in below freezing weather....with just a half bottle of Slick50 Synthetic
