pinging under heavy acceleration

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I have an 01 6.0 hd. I am hearing a lot of pinging under hard acceleration. My dealer thinks it is from carbon and wants to do a top engine clean. I have 39000 miles on it and also have extended warranty but they dont think that the warranty will pay for it. My first question is why is there so much carbon at this mileage and will a top engine cean work. Second is that I have heard some talk about seafoam  to clean it. what is it and how does it work? Sorry for long post!

Carbon is from teh cheapp a$$ gas we buy. Mine had the same problem. Yes a top end cleaner will fix the problem. But only for 20,000-25,000 miles. I have done mine twice in 45,000 miles. I use sea foam. You can buy a bottle or spray can. The bottle you stick a vaccum line in it and let the engie suck it up. Do a little at a time to keep from stalling the motor. Do that till 1/2 is gone. Then you add until it does stall out. Let it set for 30 minutes. Longer is better. Then run the nuts off it. Then change your oil. Works great.
