4l60e transmission will it go in my 05 avalanche

need to know if a 4l60e transmission will work in my 2005 avalanche

I have a 2006 Avalanche and I thought that's what transmission these trucks used? There are some variations in the transmission between the years so I would stick with a 05 4l60e.

Unless it has the 8.1, it would work.  However, its necessary that you get the same generation transmission that came out of your truck.  It has the 4L60 in it already.
