fog lamps install?

Recommended Posts

It is true that you have to reprogram the BCM. GM has a kit available for both Chevy and GMC that is a complete kit with harness, swith, and relay. Chevy # is 12495928 and GMC is 12495929 for 2002. You should be able to get either one for under a hundred bucks.

 Like bigblockpower said just get the kit, it has instructions and retails for $99 I think. Dealers will charge from $30-60 to reprogram BCM.

After doing the roof lamps, the foglamps will be a breeze. I know, I have done them both on different trucks.

But after you do the fog lights you're gonna ask yourself why you even bothered, because they suk. The factory ones are made by Blazer, the same company that sells the $19.95 ones at Walmart. If you want fog lights, real fog lights, you'll have to go aftermarket to get them.

Let me second what JimWilson said. The OEM fog lights are very poor. Housing and mounting bracket are made of plastic. They put out an almost useless amount of light. They come with 27W bulbs. Several folks tried to put 55W bulbs in and had the housings melt. I have 35W bulbs in mine, no problems so far, but only slightly better than useless. Pilot advertises an replacement set that fits exactly like the OEM. Plan to upgrade sometime in the future.
