84029815 includes the black "skid" plate. The number you quoted does not include any skid plate piece, and it is for trucks using the chrome "skid" plate. Oddly enough, they are the same price!

It's 2 pieces.  The skid plate and I think it's called the "bumper filller"   I just did mine recently

Oh well now he was both part numbers so at least he can run it by his dealer so he gets the exact one he wants.

I'm looking at doing the same thing. I have an 2018 1500 LT but I want to swap the front grille with either an LTZ or High Country front end. The lower piece can be ordered either "with" or "w/o" the skid plate. I believe that the one "w/o" is just like the one I have on the LT - all one piece. The "with" skid plate I believe is a two-piece part in which you order the Bumper Filler(fascia) and skid plate separate. It appears there is a cut-out on the fascia so the skid plate fits flush. I requested part numbers from [email protected] and below is what I was given. The VIN numbers are just random VINs from an LTZ and a High Country I found at dealerships on the Internet. If you go to gmpartsdirect.com you can enter the part numbers to get pricing. It also appears to be the same part number for 2017 models in which the parts diagrams are online.

 

My belief is that you have to buy both the bumper filler and skid plate.

That's a great looking truck. i really like the front end chrome/paint combo you've got.

Did that truck start out as a all painted front end that you added the chrome grille to or was it the other way around?

I too was looking into this awhile back. I wanted to add the chrome Z71 skid plate to my black lower bumper filler…

And so the answer is, yes you can buy the chrome Z71 part separately. BUT it does not just bolt/screw or snap onto the all black lower bumper filler. You need to buy the black lower bumper filler from the Z71 as well. As I think it was stated before the Z71 is a two piece assembly while the all black one is just a single piece.

I have a 2016 Z71 with the filler + chrome skid plate.. I'd be willing to swap for the all black without the chrome. Let me know if anybody is interested.

,I have a black 2018 lt z71. I'm going to take off that bright piece of chrome plastic bumper skid plate and have it plasti-dipped. Or vynal wrapped. Which ever the body shop guy recommends. Plasti dip is a do it yourself job now a days. I could leave it on, but it's too much taping. And I don't do it for a living.

It's weird that they put that one piece on chrome on the bottom of the bumper on the LT Z71 trucks.  I added an LTZ grille with the 3 chrome slats so it doesn't look so out of place anymore.

This is what it looks like after plasti-dip. It's been 6 months and I can't see any fade or blemishes at all. I'm very pleased with the results.
