Frequent CarPlay disconnects

I've seen this issue in some old posts, but no real resolution.

 

2017 2500 + iPhone 6plus.

 

Problem: CarPlay will disconnect every 15-30 seconds. Then it will reconnect 5-10 seconds later. This happens (or at least is most noticeable) when playing music from the iPhone. The song stops playing, Once reconnected, have to hit play again. It might then stay connected for a longer period but inevitably cuts out again.

 

 

Have tried different iPhones and different cables. Same problem.

 

I do NOT have Apple Music or songs in iCloud (songs in iCloud seemed to be an issue in the past).

I do NOT have any VPS software or settings/profiles (another item claimed as a cause in the past).

 

The issue seems to be worse with iOS 11, but was still a problem with iOS 10.

 

 

Any ideas? Anyone else having this problem or know of a solution?
