75w90 gear oil for gm trucks

Recommended Posts

hey guys! 07 escalade ext and im gonna be switching out the gear oil. i was reading alot online thru forums and stuff and it seems like people recommend gm because it doesnt contain limited slip or friction additives which are bad for our differentials? or are they fine?

ive been looking aftermarket and interested in amsoils severe gear, royal purple 75w90 or even the pennzoil full synthetic 75w90 but it seems like all 3 have either a limited slip additive or a friction modifier. is that bad and not allowed? or doesnt really matter

thanks!!

Yes, all three will be fine. I have been running AMSOIL's Sever Gear 75w-90 in my 02's G80 now for 165k miles with no issues. Change it our at 10k new and then again at 75k and then again at 172k. Both front and rear. Truck has 175k on it now.
