Standard Bed Crew Cab Hard To Find?

I had to go by pictures to find mine since as someone else mentioned, its not usually listed in the specs and I wanted to buy used.  The gas door and fender flare was a good indicator for me.  Kinda wished I had waited for one with the 6.2 but after 6mo and my old truck falling apart at an increasing rate, I had to act.  Hopefully bolt-ons and a tune will give me my fix.

When did you get yours?  I'm near you and when I bought mine (Nov 2015) I couldn't find any with the 6.5' bed even at the "big" dealers like Apple and Sutliff.  LOL
I waited and eventually found a very specific combination (1500CC, 6.5 bed, green exterior, dune interior) just south of me in Frederick MD but it took a while.
I got mine at Apple. I wanted a High Country and all of them on the lot were long beds with 22 inch wheel upgrades.

I'm still shooting myself daily. I should have downgraded to 20 inch wheels. More tire options in that size.

It's never to late to sell the 22s and buy some 20s or simply find someone who is willing to swap wheels.

Yeah I work right down the road.  I actually can't stand their Service but it's convenient so I have been using them for warranty issues.  Found out the Cadillac side can work on them too so I may try them for the next visit (completely different advisors, techs, and experience!)

I upgraded from 18 to 20's and definitely noticed a harsher ride but it was worth it for the looks.  Don't think I could go to 22's though.

I just bought a used 2014 GMC 1500 Sierra SLE cc standard bed. It feels very heavy like a tank and doesn't ride that comfortable compared to other trucks I have had. Has 107,000 miles. Wonder if new shocks would help? Seems like I feel every bump in road.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new truck!  I have a similar truck and find the ride great when compared to other similar sized vehicles that I've owned.  I imagine it could seem "tank like" if I compared it to small cars or SUV's.  At 107K miles, you may want to consider having your shocks and the rest of your truck professionally inspected..  Randomly replacing parts based on suggestions found online is an ineffective and expensive solution.  This being said, I am curious as to what tires you have on your new truck.  They will not be the original and may be contributing to a poor ride.  I put larger LT tires on my '09 Sierra after a couple years of ownership and seriously hurt the ride quality of my truck.  I endured for a year and then switched back to OEM sized, "P" rated tires.  My ride returned to new!

I drove truck today and it actually feels like a Cadillac because of the heavy feeling it has, and the roughness I feel could be the bumpy roads. Tires are OEM size, some off brand called Ironman. I went over some speed bumps and the truck bounced softly going over. Vehicle weight is around 5000.

With the crew cab and 6 1/2 ft. bed, it is probably the size of a Yukon XL or maybe longer.

I won't be doing any parallel parking on the street. The manual said the 5.3 echotec3 L83 engine held 8.5 quarts of oil U.S. That sure seems like a lot.

I have had a 2012 Silverado 5.3 which held 6 quarts. The Sierra must have a bigger oil pan. I have also sent a pic. Thanks for your reply and any other tips you may have.

Yes, these trucks are rather big but quite manageable with practice.  Parallel parking may require larger spaces but the technique is the same as with a sedan.  I find the larger mirrors eases some parking situations.  You will also find that backing into stall parking spaces easier than driving in forward.   (This also makes leaving easier.)  I sometimes think that mall parking lots and fast food drive-thru planners use a truck just like ours as a template for the maximum sized vehicle that will fit!   These trucks are actually a little shorter than the old popular super/extended  cabs with the 8' box that I drove in the 80's and 90's.  Most of my daily drivers have been pickups so I am quite comfortable with the size but I know it can be very intimidating at times.   I am not familiar with your brand of tire but any tire shop will give you a free assessment.

im looking to retire my 99 c3500 cclb 5.7L w/ 498k mi.

for the last 5yrs she has had a quiet life just making runs to the compost dump, Lowes or hauling a trailer to the swap meet.

so the last several years, she was more than i needed, but she was paid for & only required maintenance.

w/ my side work picking up & swapping from a Utility trailer to an enclosed trailer, i need more reliable truck.

I cant afford 3 vehicle payments, so im going to retire the 99cclb & trade in Charger. that way i still have 2 vehicle payments & overall 1 less vehicle in the yard.

now, while on a typical daily use, i'll be the only person in the truck. but my going tween & teenager are in the vehicle several times a week & we take a dozen or so out of state trips a year for scouts.

so legroom for the trips is a must.

in my area, dc rules the marketplace, so i checked one out. i told the dealer up front that i all i was doing was checking out the seating in a dc model & that was it. i was doing nothing else.

i got in & moved the drivers seat to where i am comfortable & then proceeded to the LR seat, i am of average height & my knees were touching the seatback. so a dc is a no go for me. i will need a cc.

i have a 3 strikes your out rule & the salesman hit it. so even if that dealership has what i want, i will not buy from them now.

my replacement options are either another gmt400 or a k2xx.

upon researching the k2xx, i find that only way to get a cclb is on a 25/3500 which i dont have a need for that weight class or that large of an engine.

w/ this being a dd & im not towing large weights, i dont need anything larger than a 1500 w/ a 5.3L.

but i need an 8ft bed as i haul 2x4s, plywood & sheetrock several times a month & dislike having things sitting on the expensive tailgates.

i could suffer w/ the 6.0L in a 2500 cclb, but that would put me in a different tax & insurance bracket. due to the weight & classification differences between my 99 & a k2xx, the k2xx 2500 would be considered a commercial vehicle. (diff plates, taxes, insurance, inspections), all added costs throughout the year. & thats not taking into consideration of the extra fuel consumption.

i like the headlight/grille of the 14/15 better than that of the 16-18

so i guess that i will be looking for a cc w/ a std bed w/ a 5.3L & a JB1 (integrated brake controller), w/ a preference of a 15 over a 16-18, manual 4x4 over dash switch.

w/ the ability of Android Auto, i dont have a need for either of the oem offered gps units. I def dont need onstar anything.

def prefer a 6 passenger over a 5 as i occasionally have extra people.

if not already installed, side steps will be added for the wife & kids, along w/ adding a bed extender to help protect the expensive tailgate.

The oil capacity has been changed.  It is only 8qts.  Just wanted to let you know for the next time you change the oil.
