Popping rear end suspension

Recommended Posts

Dealership applied the lithium grease to all of the pads plus a little extra down the springs. Also they greased the bushing sockets on both ends. My noise is still present and I am now in the process of trying to figure out exactly what pad is making the noise.

So I too am having the same issue, with the little research I have done on this subject I'm not going to go through all the BS with the dealership. They seem to be putting a bandaid on it with the grease, etc. Has anyone looked into replacing the rear leaf springs with aftermarket ones? I'd actually go the route of Pro Comp because of their powertrain warranty but any name brand will do. I don't think any of us want to stiffen the ride and/or alter it...at least I don't. I just want something that doesn't make my truck sound like i'm driving a POS. Ill make some calls tomorrow to see who carries the springs and the cost for them.

  • 2 weeks later...

I took my truck to the dealer last week and I had to drive it for them so they could hear the popping noise, and they told me it was coming from the leaf springs on my 2016 chevy Silverado, they then told me they had ordered a part that was a kit to put on the leaf springs that just came from engineering hopefully Coleman Chevrolet in new Boston Texas isn't lying to me. Still waiting on that part.

The part came in and I got it installed on my leaf springs today.  Got home and tried it pulling in to my driveway about five times and right know it's as quiet as a mouse. It's plastic bushings that goes between your leaf springs. I'll give an update two months from know.

17' Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LT 4x4 (standard box)

Currently at just over 9k miles

I am having the same type of issue, a clunking or popping noise when turning/backing out of my driveway and when going over uneven surfaces at low speeds.  This started happening after dealership did my first service at 7500 miles.  I brought my truck back to them to address the problem and they told me it is normal noise coming from the rear diff, comparable to that of other 4x4 1500's they have.  Any thoughts/advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Thoughts?  Sure, they're blowing you off with the it's normal crap.  Just hoping you'll go away.  My '16 Silverado does it too sometimes, sometimes it shakes over 72-73 MPH too.  POS trucks is all....
