Question
spirtwolf
I have a 2009 chevrolet 2500hd that the steering wheel is locking up on because of movement in the steering column. I had lots of play in steering wheel and upper bolt that connects intermediate shaft to steering column was was hitting metal bracket. I replaced the intermediate shaft and it solved the play in the steering wheel but not the bolt hitting bracket. For some reason the steering column shaft the intermdiate shaft bolts to is moving in and out letting the bolt holding the two together hit the bracket causing steering wheel to lock up. Does steering columne need replaced or is there something I can do to stop the shaft from moving. I am including 2 photos one showing bolt hitting bracket and the other after I reached under dash and pulled shaft down so bolts were no longer hitting bracket. After only driving a few miles bolt will be back hitting bracket locking up steering.
